Unfortunately, YaSim doesn't provide the parameters required, although there is a YaSim aircraft (YF-23) that does have dedicated autopilot. As the author of the (JSBSim based) F-16 model I can conform there is no F-16 specific autopilot implemented other than the base flight rules that apply to the F-16 model (flight characteristics related, not waypoint related). JSBSim flight control components were designed specifically to meet the requirements of the Block 40 Digital Flight Control System. I'm not sure all the items needed for the terrain following logic (LANTIRN) are there, but the various autopilot modes ought to be possible. If you need lots of flexibility over building blocks, etc., you might try the JSBSim flight control components. Do you have a specific F-16 need - a particular block number? What are the problems you are having with the generic autopilot? There is nothing FDM-specific in the autopilot code. The intent is that it is a configurable engine for aircraft-specific versions like the YF-23. Have you tried simply using the YF-23 autopilot as-is on the F-16? Or, for that matter, what are your requirements from YASim? I could see about hooking you up with specific outputs if they are available. [Flightgear-users] terrasync
Now that I've solved my joystick problems (thanks to all how gave me input !) I'm working on scenery. Is the terrasync utility included in the 0.9.8 download or does it have to be downloaded separately? One of the documents mentioned a read me that came along with the utility. When I get it how do I use it? I've downloaded 10 X 10 scenery blocks, placed them in the terain folder in the data folder, but nothing happens when I get to the edge of the w130n30 block which was included in the download. Help. In the FlightGear source folder you will find another folder called utils. Somewhere in there you'll find the terrasync readme. On 9/27/05, Edward Cawley [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:Now that I've solved my joystick problems (thanks to all how gave me input !) Help. Glad you managed to work around your joystick problem eventually! Just checking - did you uncompress the files you downloaded? They're gzipped tar files and need to be uncompressed and extracted before you can use the contents. Shout again if you need more assistance in doing so. Basically, once done you should have, in the data/Scenery/Terrain folder, several subfolders (note _not_ just the tgz files), one for each chunk you've downloaded. Andy Hi Andy, I wasn't aware that the autopilot used with the YF-23 could be used with the F16. I'll give this a try and see how it goes. The generic autopilot allows the F16 to go unstable very easily, for example I set the altitude-hold for 5000 ft while its at 3000, and I get a pitch oscillation which leads to an aircraft crash. Extreme movements like a +30 degree pitch hold for a few seconds followed by an altitude-hold will also result in pitch oscillation. The autopilot seems to be too sensitive an doesn't have proper damping... as I have had suggested to me, ie. I have little knowledge in control theory. There are some internal properties that I need retrieved from JSBSim which I couldn't find in YaSim. These are (looking in the 'internal properties)... /fdm/jsbsim/atmosphere/rho-slugs_ft3 /fdm/jsbsim/velocities/vt-fps /fdm/jsbsim/position/h-sl-ft /fdm/jsbsim/atmosphere/T-sl-R /fdm/jsbsim/atmosphere/T-R /fdm/jsbsim/atmosphere/P-psf Overall, JSBSim seems to give more data than YaSim, but I'm happy to be corrected on this point.
