My company has asked me to test Omnihelp. They want to merge several help files
at runtime. I can't get it to work and I'm running out of ideas. Can anyone
here help, or can you point me at a reliable source?

I've had differences of opinion and experience with others over the
stability of FrameMaker 12 versus 11 (or previous releases). Stability
appears to vary widely with different source files, practices,
computing/network environment, etc. For example, I have a client who had
a stable platform

I wonder where you would buy FM 10 -- this is not available any more. I
have been looking for a license recently, but I could not find any.
You can still get FM11, but not directly from Adobe...
AFAIK it is possible to buy the newest version (FM 12) and to use this
license to
Adobe used to let you use an earlier release if you bought the current
release. I don't know if they still do, they changed the licensing
since the last time I did that.

I just upgraded to FM12 and am using Structured FM files.
Files that are already in structured FM are ok and all my plugins work fine.
My problem is with a certain type of XML file that I try to open in FM.
This file is used as the main file to put together a number of XML files. The
