Astute, as usual, Fred. I'll return to lurkdom, for the time being, duly
corrected. I sympathize with Karen: It's unfortunate that anyone with a
setup as robust as hers appears to be has to struggle with the
functionality problems she outlines.

I'm afraid it may not be worth very much as a data point, because there is a
world of difference between Windows XP and any 64-bit version of Windows Vista

I've never run into the bug you're experiencing:

It can be done. I'd recommend using vmware fusion as that allows using a more

Good afternoon,
My office is considering moving to Framemaker. However, a number of
people are using the Crossover to run windows programs. Is anyone
running Framemaker 9 or 10 using this program? If so, what are your
experiences? Appreciate your help!
Thanks!

Or perhaps VirtualBox from Oracle, which is also free. The interface
is not as seamless as Parallels but it appears to be snappier when
running Win7.

Do you have any plug-ins in FM? What kind of virus checker are you
using?
This does not appear as a standard FM bug, so I would suspect
something else is causing a memory leak.

Definitely too little RAM is the likely culprit (processor speed may matter too
- how old is your computer?)
Depending on the graphics card you have in your system, some of that 1GB RAM is
also being used-for/overlapped-with the graphics card and reducing the
available memory further.

I get irregular, but multiple crashes in a day, which is getting very
annoying.
Here's what I know:
It's a bog-standard user manual.
Document is short (<250pp), uses only a few fonts, two conditions, and a
dozen variables.
There are three generated files (TOC, IX, and 1 LOP).
