RE: Deactivate not available for for Framemaker 10
Tammy, I'm running Win7 FM10 (as part of TCS 3) on one of my laptops and the Deactivate option is not grayed out when I'm logged in as a non-Administrator. I expect I would have to enter an Administrator password to effect the deactivation, but the menu item to Deactivate is there for a non-Administrator user. Re: importing graphics in xml file
Hi Fred, there is a dpi option. Example: dpi=300 (height and width are used to specify the frame that contains the graphics in FM.) The structured application developers guide says: dpi corresponds to the dpi property and indicates how to scale an imported graphic object. The software ignores this attribute if it finds a value for the impsize attribute. It produces only one of the attributes--dpi or impsize. The value of the dpi attribute is a number. If not supplied, the value is 72. Best regards - Tino H. Haida, Berlin Fred Wersan: Looks like it imports it at 72 dpi. I want 150 dpi for some graphics, higher for others. RE: Deactivate not available for for Framemaker 10
A quick note . . . I have previously deactivated FM on the old laptop, uninstalled and reinstalled it. I am the Administrator and this isn't an issue with other Adobe programs on the same laptop (Captivate, Acrobat). . . all have the Deactivate option available w/out having to right-click and run as Administrator. I have been the Administrator on this laptop since the cows came home, but as Craig has mentioned, this isn't the issue. I contacted Adobe and evidently, this is a known quirky issue that they aware of but can't understand why/how it happens. I worked with Adobe support to get a resolution. I appreciate all the responses. A few offlist also stated that they went through this issue and the machinations that they had go to through with Adobe to get it resolved was painful. The result is that graphics files that don't fit impsize = 3.183in 3.1in get distorted. What I would really like is to just say - import this file at such and such a resolution and let it size automatically. Does anyone know if there is a different syntax that can specify the resolution instead of the dimensions of the imported graphic? RE: importing graphics in xml file
Hi Fred, What happens if you don't include the width and height attributes? Rick Rick Quatro Carmen Publishing Inc. 585-366-4017 r...@frameexpert.com -Original Message- From: framers-boun...@lists.frameusers.com [mailto:framers-boun...@lists.frameusers.com] On Behalf Of Fred Wersan Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2015 1:49 PM To: framers@lists.frameusers.com Subject: importing graphics in xml file I am importing xml files into structured framemaker 8 and these files reference graphics using the following syntax: yfigure file = ../somefile.png impsize = 3.183in 1.1in impby = ref sideways = 0 impang = 0.000 xoffset = 0.080in yoffset = 0.0in position = runin align = arightcropped = 0 float = 0 width = 3.25in height = 3.1in angle = 0.000 bloffset = 0.000in nsoffset = 0.000in/ I think I got this syntax by exporting a file and seeing what framemaker created. I am using an automated process to create the xml files that assumes all the referenced graphics files are the same size. However, it turns out that they really aren't. RE: Deactivate not available for for Framemaker 10
And it's not running in Trial mode. It's a legally purchased, fully licensed single seat (not a volume license) and I have been using it since FM 10 came out . . . I was an early adopter of 10. Grumble, grumble, grumble. . . Just frustrating and a big time waster to try deal with something that should be so simple. thanks! Haida, Berlin Tammy Van Boening: HI All, I have two Win 7, 64 bit machines (one desktop and one laptop) both with Framemaker 10 installed, all patched and current. I need to deactivate the instance of FM 10 on the laptop so that I can install and activate it on a second laptop. When I open the instance of FM 10 on the desktop, the Deactivate option is available from the Help menu. Great, but I do not want to deactivate this instance. When I open the instance of FM 10 on the laptop, the Deactivate option is grayed-out and no matter what I do, I cannot get to become enabled. I have closed and reopened FM multiple times, I have opened and closed existing FM documents, I have created and saved new FM documents, but no joy. I can't deactivate the FM instance on my desktop . . .it has to be the one on the laptop. Any thoughts or suggestions?
