I'm using FM 8 9. I have several small files (unstructured). I want to print
them to a PDF in a continuous flow, rather than having each file start on a new
page.
For example, if the first file stops half a page down, the next file starts on
the second half of the page.
Can this be done?
I think you are looking for frames. This site has good examples that you

I haven't used XMetal, but we do use FM9 to author DITA XML, and
ePublisher (XML adapter) to create online help. We author XML files and
ditamaps in FM9. To create PDFs, we save our ditamaps as composite FM
books, which works fine. After the books are generated, we apply
templates to the FM

I assume that the pagination is set to double-sided (ie, left/right). If the
preface has several individual FM documents in it, my guess is that each
document is set to start on the right page, and the text of the troublesome
document ends on a right page. Therefore, FM adds a blank left page

you pull them out of the anchored frame, and then delete the anchored frame? I
don't think the graphics will be referenced anymore, but it might resolve your

My monitor is 24 wide, and I had my Files Preferences set to 24 for the
monitor size.
It turned out that the text looked too far from the right margin only when my
page magnification was greater than 100. At 100, and

On the master page of the first index page, hold the CTRL key down and
right-click the page's frame.
Choose Object Properties.
In the Columns area, define your column settings.
Click Set.

Out of curiosity, is there a utility that allows you to map the template
definitions from one FM file to another?
For example, say that I had an FM file with the following paratags:
