I too am in that same boat, spending more time than I'd like on Word
documents. You may find this blog post helpful - it points ot a
comprehensive set of macros by Paul Beverley. I don't remember if there
are any specifically for managing styles, but I'm sure you'll find
something useful

I posted a review of FM10 on my blog this morning.

I noted that I was having a serious performance issue with real-time
spell-checking turned on, and that there was no "do not spellcheck" option

Thanks, Scott, but it's probably easier just to do it through the GUI
(File > Preferences > General). Presumably it should be possible to write
an ExtendScript to toggle it on and off and link it to a toolbar button,
and perhaps someday I'll try that just to save a few mouse clicks.

I was looking at the FM10 help and decided that I'd like to have the PDF
as it's easier to skim through. And the online help has a (mostly useless)
search function and no index.
Much to my surprise, I found that the PDF had no index (unlike the FM9
user's guide (essentially the same document)

I'm starting to use the Track Text Edits feature in FrameMaker 10.
It's nice to have, but there's one thing that I find annoying. In Word, I
have my revision tracking set to use hidden text for deletions. I've
deleted the text from the document - I really don't want to see it
anymore.

I am experiencing frequent crashes when I save a book after updating it.
This happens pretty much every time I try to save a book. The books and
files I am working with were originally written in FrameMaker 8.
I thought that re-creating
I've run into a very odd bug after installing the ChangeStyles
ExtendScript script mentioned in the latest Technical Communication blog
post.
With the script installed, I cannot type a lowercase letter u in
FrameMaker. I can type an uppercase U, but not lowercase. I don't think

If the problem is hard-drive related, I strongly recommend getting GRC's
SpinRite. It's a low-level disk repair utility and has saved my bacon on
more than one occasion.

I'm not sure if it would work on an external drive (if it's though a USB
interface). If the

I've just noticed something annoying with FrameMaker 10. It's not saving
my bookmark settings when I created a PDF with Save as PDF.
Has anyone else seen this?
Thanks

The behaviour of FrameMaker 10 when I page or scroll down is driving me
crazy. I open a file, start to page down, get two or three pages into the
file, and I'm back where I started. The only way I can keep this from
happening is to click in the file each time I page down.
The same thing happens
In looking at some of my files, the problem seems to be in the ones with
graphics, so I guess I'm going to have to try Rick's plugin.

I'll have to take a closer look at my files. I have only one set of

I need to do captions, I embed the captions in a tool like SnagIt or

I'm planning to do a major revamp of some of our documentation. As part of

want to split my current documents up into files at the heading 2 and

Does anyone have a script or add-in that would do
The Scale Graphics Proportionately framescript from Klaus Muller may be
what you are looking for.

I'm starting to use SmartDocs and will be rolling it out to an initial

It gives Word users a lot of the capabilities that Frame users have had
