Hi Melanie
Why do you need the PDF to be the right size? On screen, it *really* doesn't
matter whether it's A4 or letter, and as the others said, printers cope, so
anyone who prints your work won't lose any of it. Unless you really need your
users to be able to print at 100% with good-looking
One size fits all almost never goes. but if you are trying to make a
template that will fit both Letter and A4 pa?er sizes, you should bear
in mind to fit to the shortest of both sides, long and wide. A4 is
21x29.7 cm (210x297mm) and letter size is 21.6x27.9mm (216x279mm).

Hello Melanie from Germany,
don't worry about the DIN A4 used outside US,
keep your template. We (the user of your manuals)
don't have any problems with printing the letter
size pages on a DIN A4 printer and paper size.

Hi Melanie,
One company I worked for solved this by making the template page size 210mm
x 11in. In other words, we used the A4 width and the US Letter height. This
made the page fit either paper size. The only issue was larger top/bottom
margins with A4 paper and slightly larger left/right

Thanks Daniel, Diane, Rick.
I should have said before, our main method of delivery to customers is
PDF. So, we're wanting a PDF that's of the right size before it ever
gets to a paper printer.
As for recreating our template... Just for our English user guides, we
have 18 template files. We have
