[Frameworks] Explosives for space pirates film

Hey, I'm making a space pirates stop motion film and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could acquire black powder to blow up model space ships with. I know you can buy it in cans somewhere but I cant find a place in New York that sells any explosives. Do I have to go to the south or
