Make sure your script is named with the extension .sh
Also, don't assume your script has a proper environment. You will do best
to use full path names to any commands.

I had the same problem, it tuned out to be the 5.4 nvidia driver loading on
boot. Check what drivers you have loading on boot, you may need to disable
one (or more) drivers, and rebuild the driver under 6.0.

FreeBSD runs quite well on the HP DLxxx models, only annoying quirk is
that if you set the OS Type in the BIOS to Other (since there's no BSD
options) it won't display a lot of the features to the OS (such as SMP).

RAID1, with snd_emu10k1.ko, and I get the same results... Re-nicing

Give us the output of mount, and first 10 samples from iostat to see
what kind of throughput you are getting, and how the filesystems are
mounted.
I don't know how many recommendations I'll be able to suggest after
that, but it will show us more what's going on.

I wouldn't say that dd is the greatest benchmarking tool. You
may want to
try benchmarks/rawio.
I'll check that out just for kicks, but I _actually want_ to
write zeros to the drive first, not just as a benchmark. The
reasoning for this is that I'm trying to create a dedicated box
to format
to be pretty obscure (like how would I know to
enable features/specs to edit a modepage?), but extremely
powerful. Where can I read more about this, is there a good
camcontrol FAQ/tutorial out there that explains what these
details actually mean/do?

I'm something of a newbie with FreeBSD, but it seems like cvsup'ing your ports tree is
the preferred solution. Why can't you do this? Can you use the package management
system instead or ports, or

know it's a CDCE-type device.
So, my question is this: Is this modem's USB interface supported in
FreeBSD 4.8 and/or 5.1? If so, which kernel module(s) can be used. If

You can always run Gnome on top of Enlightenment. A lot of people seem
to use that solution and are happy with it.
