Hey all,
I don't really have a horse in this race since I don't really contribute to
the FD distribution,
but as a developer of a tool getting relegated to the "other" CD, does make
me a bit sad...
I was surprised and quite proud to see DOG still being part of the main CD!
:D
However, I do realize

I started that way. But soon realized, I could just look at the prior month’s
build report and compare it to the packages on the install media. Much quicke
Based on this email thread, here is what I have done in preparation for T2410.
While this is not everything discussed in this thread, I think it is the more
important items. We are only a few days away from the next interim build and
this is all the restructuring I really have time for at the mo

For documentation/help purposes maybe include that spreadsheet on the cd.
One version of DOS had 4 spiralbound books.
Ideas: end user documentation, administrator documentation, setup guide,
command reference (each command is a program usually), License.

Hi,
Regarding moving V8POWER, FDIMPLES and a few others into a new package group…
That’s fine :-) But, I don’t think the group should be called install or
anything like that. For one, it greatly limits what can/should be placed in
that group. Plus… Although V8 is critical to making the installe
Hi Jim,
Michael makes a good point about keeping Net in LiveCD, but I'd
recommend the "live" part on the CD (where you can boot into FreeDOS
without installing) should not try to load networking by default in
FDAUTO. This could cause problems and a bunch of "help me" emails
How about loading

And here's the CSV:

apps/doszip.zip,480,
apps/fdimples.zip,132,
apps/fdshell.zip,209,

Hi Jim,
sure, we can keep "each category is entirely on one CD", so:
- move sqlite, maybe to devel?
Agreed.
Good.
- let fancymines use gif or jpeg
That would be nice.
:-)
- move doom and, unless using gif, fancymines to BONUS
I think the games should all stay together.
I have a personal bias here, but I think that basic network connectivity
should be part of the standard packaging and not relegated to a bonus CD.
There are other things that should be moved first.
For example, mTCP is 3.5MB and that includes the documentation, which is
several times larger than t

Hi Jim, others,
If you are in a hurry, see the summary at the bottom! :-)
Or, if you prefer MB:
643M T2409BNS.iso
279M T2409LGCY.iso
449M T2409LIVE.iso
For readability and "knowing what you get", I propose to
rename those ISOs from 9+3 to longer names, such as:
test202409bonus.iso
test202
Just a couple minor differences…
util/v8power needs to be installed with base. Many things (like cd &
networking initialization, batch file NLS and more) rely on tools provided in
v8power.
util/pkgtools probably should be included with full install. It displays
information on what packages ar
I'm also sharing the CSV for my spreadsheet, showing my
recommendations for what packages to include on LiveCD and BonusCD.
This should be 3 columns: the first column lists the path to the
package (package group + package name); the second column shows the
size if that package is included on LiveCD
