I find slackware a lot easier to use than Debian, and that is going
all the way back down to the 3.X days of slackware, up till then the
floppies where a nightmare. Even now Debain drives me nuts.

yes, ubuntu is nice for desktop machines (i have 3 of them here), but
for my freevo box i use debian sarge with a custom kernel.
