Just today I had a customer report 8bit problems with Java
programs. Doing:
export FORCEDEFVIS=true
fixed it.
I support a bunch of users using Fvwm on 8bit displays.
(Sun workstations.)
They are still on a 2.4.x release.

Edge scrolling works by Fvwm creating invisible windows around the
screen borders. xcompmgr must be interferring with them somehow.
Try changing the 'edgethickness' to see if that helps.
Run xwininfo -root -all to see if there is a window in the way.

Our INSTALL.fvwm file suggests that the user should export LDFLAGS
on Solaris (for example). The Solaris man pages for Solaris 2.6 and

HPUX11.11 uses LDOPTS. AIX 4.3 doesn't seem to have anything.
Anyone know where LDFLAGS works?

It seems to me that if you are using SloppyFocus or MouseFocus,
you want the focus to follow the mouse pointer.
Thats what it does.
The "Next [*] Focus" command violates that rule, but unclutter fixes
it up. If you want to focus on a new window with either of these
focus models,

If I "unset LANG", the title is fine.
If I set it to "fr_CA", or even "en_US" I see the problem.
Why does Java think that "en_US" needs a multi-byte title?

And a good hint it was.
I've committed a fix that should fix the problem.
Please let us know if this actually does fix the problem.
Than
e is explicitly set to en_US, or fr_CA, neither of these
languages are multibyte.
I don't think its correct for Java to be setting the text property to
COMPOUND_TEXT when LANG isn't set. Normally the property on a title
would be STRING.

I did find this:

I don't normally use unclutter with Exceed, but I notice that unclutter

Looks like it. I'd do it, but I think Mikhael is already on the case.

Done. You may want to test this on a system that supports
Xinerama. I tested it with:
Style "*" IconBox -80 240 -1 -1, IconGrid 80 67, \
IconBox 1040x20+0-40, IconGrid 80 80, IconFill r t
which tests both formats and some negative coordinates.

Since I don't have a setup, I can only guess, but my guess is
that we don't need a iconbox for each screen feature.
