Just in case you might not know: we (that is, me and Michelle) do monitor

Hello richard.
Personally, I'd recommend a mixture of genres, some easy which members of
the general public can pick up, - such as superliam, but others more
difficult and complex. in particular I'd recommend Shades of doom or
Sarah, - particularly Sarah.
Hp games are very current,
Hi Michael,
I am sure Charles and I, as well as the rest of the list, see that. You
are certainly not the first to make a mistake. However, all Charles and
I were saying is that when information or files like this are passed out
the information or downloads should be as complete as possible.
Hi Richard,
I would certainly like to donate Montezuma's Revenge to such a cause. It
is both based off a sighted game, and I have done allot to keep it in
line with the original.
If you would like to use Montezuma's Revenge in your demonstrations let
me know off list and I will see that you get
Hi Dark,
Um... Sarah is actually a 2D FPS game. It has none of the 3D elements of
FPS games like Jedi Knight or Tomb Raider.
However, your point is a good one. a side-scroller like Montezuma's
Revenge or SL would be a nice intro to gaming for the blind, but then
they could whip out something
I think we should show a little of everything. Some gma games since they
are very advanced. Some free games and some others. You could show them in
comparison. Like Shades of Doom against Doom and talk about what
differences the devs did to make the Gma game accessible.

Hi Dark,
Thanks for suggesting my Sarah game but I have concerns about showing it to
Electronic Arts.
One of the big EA titles is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix which
is very similar to Sarah in that it mainly takes place in the Hogwarts
castle.
It is different in that it has over
The same could be true of using Montezuma's Revenge, couldn't it? I mean,
wouldn't the makers of the original pull the same stunt?

Hi Richard.
Techno Shock and Tank Commander are one of the most advanced games we have.
I recommend you to show them these two games.
Personly, I don't need to have EA games make special designed games only for
us, but just some small adjustments so the games for sighted also are

Hi tom.
I know Sarah or Shades don't have the 3D environmental features the way any
of the quake varients do, - Eg, catwalks, ramps etc. however personally,
though the games are single level, I'd count them as 3d because of the use
of sound sources in proximity to your character used for
Ah phil, that might be a problem, and I will admit one reason Sarah
occurred to me was, - as well as being one of the most complex 3D (or
2D), games of it's type, it's also on a very current and popular theme,
which people can relate to, -- Vi people are Hp fans too!
But releasing
Hi Tom,
You are correct in that Sarah is a 2 d game but I simulate a third dimension
by removing Sarah's footstep sounds and adding a wind sound when she is on a
broom.
I also set a variable for those non flying creatures like the caretaker,
troll and goblin to be totally passive, and so they
To be honest I think that's more the idea, not so much to make games
specifically for the blind but to make future games more blind friendly
while hopefully maintaining the quality sighted gamers have come to expect.
That, if you want my opinion, is probably another reason why mainstream devs
If possible, show a variety of games ranging from the less complex to the
more complex. Maybe Jim Kitchen's Pong, Golf, and Mach 1, then maybe a
couple of side scrollers, then Lone Wolf, then Tank Commander, Monkey
Business and some of the pinball tables, Rail Racer and Sarah and the Castle

Hi Brian.
I don't think accessibility would detract from the quality in the game, or
disturb the gameplay for the sighted players. Think about the little beep
sound in Rise to honour when you can do an action, or the very simple and
accessible gameplay and menus in Urban Reign. If it's done

Hi Richard
I also think a variety of games would be the best to show to the sighted
devs that blind people desire to play all the same sortof, and are able to
play the same games.
I'd say for the more complex style of games that SCWW, GTC, andSOD are
among the best for first person games.
I think it would be easy enough even if EA built in an accessible option to
their games. Perhaps one that could be turned on for accessibility, and
then perhaps put into like a silent mode for sighted players.

Hi,
I think the definition of a complete 3d game, is when you can look up and
down, jump, clime up and down. Not just rely on ramps and stairs etc etc.
