funnily enough I never investigated the Hugo game platform, just tads, frotz
and glulks, but that was mostly because I never came across something in
hugo I fancied playing.

I'll be interested to give this one a try.

this game uses the hugo engine, hugo actually to its credit puts its menus
at the end of the screen meaning the game is at the top real good to play

Re: [Audyssey] Top Speed Question

2008-11-08 Thread Dakotah Rickard
Ok. There are a few tips I can give you. The first tip is this:
Memorize the track. Try to remember when you've got a left or right
coming up and how much you'll have to turn. The Quick Start race puts
you into the least maneuverable car. Motorcycles are even less
maneuverable.
Anyway, if you have the track memorized, you can stay on the wall
towards the side of the turn. For example, if your next turn is to the
right, stay to the right, near the right wall.
Also, consider this. I know that a similar post was provided, but
practicing this is a necessary. Also, you may not be able to take the
turns at top speed. Slow down with your brakes then take the turn. You
may not win the race, but you won't crash.

Re: [Audyssey] Accessible Game Devices

2008-11-08 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Jason,
Yeah, all of the major consoles charge huge royalties in order to create
games for their platforms. While the technology exists to make say XBox
360 games you still need to pay royalties and major licensing fees to do
so. I once checked into making games for the PS 3, and even though the
new Playstation core is Linux Sony has so heavily modified it that it
doesn't use many of the open source technologies that I have come to
know in developing software for my Linux desktop here at home. It
requires a specific development kit and it costs thousands of bucks to
get the rights to use their sdk.
If that wasn't enough to mmmake it unlikely the fact is the games have
to be reviewed and approved by Sony, Microsoft, etc brfore you can even
sell it. Bottom line it is not for the small time developers. It is for
major corperations with millions of bucks behind them.

Hi.
I am asking on behalf of a friend that is deff who wants to know what games he
can play, this guy is blind and deff and has a braille display.
So far I have suggested the games at ifarchive.org, the times ashes collection
The dos games at kitchensinc.net and pcsgames.net but not sure if they are
still up.
Also old card games for dos, etc.
Am I missing something out or is that all.
Oh this guy is dumb as a post where pcs are concerned.
I was thinking the rogue style but I suspect all the symbols would look real
bad on a braille display.
If you have any extras you'd like to give me just pass them privately unless
you want to open another list topic, I don't mind, I have asked this guy to
subscribe, well gave him the web address of this place so who knows.
Oh I also suggested to him games like kingdom of loathing, and alterego as well
as muds in general.
I think I have everything but am not sure.
I am not deff so I don't know exactly what is required.

Well, I can answer this one. Since I'm pretty much labeled Blind/Deaf.
Yet, I can still hear some audio and play audio games.

But, any way. All in play, Kindom of loathing, uhm, thrist, furry-paws,
uhm, several others that I play with with nothing but Braille.

The question is, can the said person read Braille good enough and comprehend
the mechanics of games. If the person has been able to hear or see in the
past, makes it much easier.
