The new changes are as follows: * Updated the script interpreter to the latest version which fixes some more bugs found by users. * File reading and writing support has been added, both for binary and text files. * Properties to get the current position and total length of a sound have been added to the sound object, along with a method to set the position as well. * Partial support for Microsoft Sapi 5.1 text to speech has been added. * A fully featured waveform tone generator has been added which allows the creation of musical compositions using sine, sawtooth and square waves. * Fixed a few minor errors in the tutorial. * The error edit control now uses word wrap rather than a scroll bar. * Switched from the MinGw C++ compiler to Visual Studio 2008, which brings us up to date with all the latest Microsoft features, and which also produces an executable that is roughly 400 kb smaller and runs considerably faster. * Fixed a few object methods where I had forgotten to set the global error flag based on the results. Hi, I just call them as I see them. As I've mentioned before if I hadn't already had a game engine of my own in development I would certainly buy BGT Pro myself and use it. I've written a few practice applications with 0.1 and over all it is a pretty nice engine for what it does. Stuff like Autoit doesn't cut it in my book, never did, but I think once BGT is fully developed it will blow everything else away in features. Let's face it the only other tool out there like it is the GMA Engine, and that was written in Visual Basic 6 where BGT is written in C++. Just using a C++ core alone is a major advantage because it isn't linked to deprecated libraries and a language that is all but dead. Then, BGT uses Angelscript which is better suited to my C/C++ background that is rather nice to have. the PB Streamway library looks pretty nice from the docs you sent me, and does a decent job of sound encryption. So I really can't complain too much with BGT so far. It has some limitations, of course, but I'm sure those will get addressed in future versions. Smile. yes the frogger game that is over there on audio games do suck. i know that someone could make a remake of the atari frogger. i mean someone made the arcade game of pac man so why not. it could be done. i could give some input to the game on how to make it. the way you would do it is have the sound of cars and trucks come from left to right and have the frog make a sound. this is some ideas if someone would like to hear my idea then i'll be happy to share. -- Email services provided by the System Access Mobile Network. I believe that the best anti virus protection is in the brains of the user. And the UAC crap is just for dummies. I might, but don't now turn the UAC crap on when and if I do connect to the Internet. I do have my game development computer that is never connected to the Internet and my Internet computer that is only connected to the Internet long enough to send and retrieve Email and occasionally do some web surfing. I in 30 years of computer use have never ever had a virus or needed to format a hard drive or any thing like that. Fact is your games do have some problems under Windows Vista and Windows 7 do to some design problems. For example, none of your programs are fully user account control compatible. Therefore in order to get them to operate correctly I and many others have to go in and disable that security feature which really isn't a good solution to the problem. Simply put saving settings to the applications home directory might have been fine for Windows 98 and Windows XP, but is a big no-no on newer Windows operating systems. And, yes, while it is true the Visual Basic 6 runtime is quite small it doesn't ship by default with Windows 7. It now is an extra component that needs to be installed where on XP it was included with the OS. Now, days if you wrote something in Visual Basic .NET, for example, it wouldn't necessarily need anything else because most .NET stuff now comes installed with Windows 7. That's just one advantage of using a more current language. However, Visual Basic 6 itself has a number of problems that probably don't matter to you personally but does for other software developers. Fact is most newer software developers, myself included, are trained to use object oriented programming concepts which are superior to procedural programming in most cases. Visual Basic 6'6 lack of advanced object oriented programming frankly sucks. Visual Basic .NET on the other hand has extremely good object oriented programming techniques. So, anyway, while I do respect your opinion I'm afraid i do have to disagree. visual Basic 6 is very old software, a very old language, and no new programmer should be trying to learn something that is out of date. Windows 7 is current, what will be eventually replacing XP eventually, and that is what we as software developers should be targeting. I guess I feel that way because from the day I stepped into a programming class room I was taught, which makes sense to me, to think of the future of the market and plan ahead for changes in the software industry. Hi Hayden, Yeah, I have never been in the practice of declaring my variables. I like to be able to just use a variable on the fly as it were. So I only declare them if I need to such as a public variable. I'm not sure how to answer as to how I remember my variables. Guess that I just do. And I have never had any trouble even years later going back and following my code. I am not sure about the private subs. Those were just examples that I found and use. But hey, they work. Hi, I was looking through the source Claudio provided to see what was causing that error I saw, and realized it was the COMAudio dll. I took a guess and tried registering it, and it worked. I've created a basic executable to register the dll, and move it to system32 for you. Well, if you otherwise just need to have the comaudio.dll file registered, in it's location - don't know if that's the real issue, then browse to it's location, hit F4 to highlight address bar, or tab to get there, and copy it's path to the clipboard,, then run the command line app, cmd.exe, cd\ to get to root of c: drive, type in cd hit alt key to activate system menu, hit E to activate edit submenu and hit P to paste the full path there, type and hit enter, then type regsvr32 COMAudio.dll, and hit enter and a prompt should come up telling you it was registered successfully, or not.
