[Audyssey] science invasion manual

2010-08-31 Thread shaun everiss

Hi.
ok, here at long last is the manual.
as of this posting its not up yet there is about 30 minutes left in the upload.
this should get you at the game.
most of it including game and cheats, etc can be found in the forum
by search science invasion.

thats how I got that.
on that note I should put in that the game may be on the peaky side,
something I did not check really since my mic seemed ok but I think
my stereo mix was a bit off.

feel free to post on the forum.
I could since I actually do go there every so often but its easier to
just post here.

I would like to have someone eventually hosting this.
this file will stay up for the next few weeks or so but its going to
eventually come down.

after I post this link give it a hour or so then download.
if you read this tomorrow or what then just download.

Re: [Audyssey] Installing On Linux was Re: Cross-Platform Monopoly and Uno

2010-08-31 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Kelly,
Well, you used the correct shell command, but gave apt-get an invalid
package name. So you had the right idea, but unfortunately Ryan didn't
give any details on what packages you need for a specific Linux
distribution like Ubuntu. Fortunately as I am also a Ubuntu 10.04 user
I happen to know how to install those dependencies. So here is how to
get the dependencies for the RS Games client installed.
Before I start it might help to note that when it comes to any Python
specific package Ubuntu has a habit of prefixing any Python package
with the word python at the beginning such as python-pygame. So in a
case like this running apt-get install pygame would fail because you
need to provide apt-get with the full package name such as
python-pygame. So with that said lets move on with the install.
In a case like this I would prefer to use the Ubuntu Software Manager
as it is a graphical installer and allows you to browse for the
packages, and doesn't force you to know the specific package names.
However, as you have indicated you are a new user, probably haven't
used the graphical Ubuntu Software Manager, I'll stick with apt-get
since that is something you know already and is more accessible. So
open gnome-terminal and at the terminal screen install these packages
in this order.

sudo apt-get install python-wxgtk2.8
sudo apt-get install python-wxtools
sudo apt-get install wx2.8-i18n
sudo apt-get install python-pygame
sudo easy_install pyttsx

If everything went well that should install and configure all the
dependencies the client requires for Ubuntu. I just tried it here
myself using apt-get and it updated and installed the dependencies so
I don't expect any problems for you. If you have any more problems
just ask.

Re: [Audyssey] BGT

2010-08-31 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Hayden,
Well, it is a bit off topic but I'll answer the question just to
clarify my earlier statements anyway. I'm not exactly the best person
to ask about that since I'm not really a Cobol programmer myself, but
essentially Cobol has been used for various things such as developing
programs to handle sales reports and things like that. Government
agencies use Cobol based programs to keep track of tax reports etc.
You are right that Cobol doesn't create text documents, but instead
stores the reports in a binary file that are saved on the mainframe or
server. When it comes down to creating business reports Cobol is still
the leader in that field, and the language itself is undergoing a
major upgrade this year. So Cobol isn't exactly dead, and apparently
still has a future in some aspect, but the younger generation of
programmers like myself aren't being taught Cobol as an essential part
of our programming training these days.

Hi Nicol,
Most definitely not. C++ is an all purpose programming language that
can be used to do low-level programming such as writing an operating
system's kernel, drivers, etc all the way up to high-level programming
like games, text editors, and similar day to day applications. Cobol
is a specific programming language for writing reports and things like
that. In other words Cobol is pretty much useless to a programmer
unless he works for a company that needs to generate a lot of reports,
forms, etc. That's why in the scheme of things Cobol is being replaced
by languages like Python, Perl, and Ruby which can do the same thing
and are easier to use.

[Audyssey] Installing On Linux was Re:  Cross- Platform Monopoly and Uno

2010-08-31 Thread Kelly Sapergia

Hi,
I hope this isn't too off-topic, but on my laptop I have Ubuntu Linux
10.04 (or the latest version anyway) in addition to Windows. However, when
it comes to Linux, I'm a total beginner, and am not sure how to install the
RS Games client, or even how to get and install the required Python
libraries it needs. For instance, I went to the Terminal program and typed
(and I assume this is the wrong command):

sudo apt-get install wxpython

but got an error saying it couldn't be found. If anyone's using this OS, can
you help me get the game going? (There were no instructions on how to do
this in the documentation I saw on the RS Games site.) Feel free to contact
me privately if you want, at ksapergia (at) sasktel.net.

  Thanks.

Yours Sincerely,

I Offer this announcement for your Education. This came in from
http://vipconduit.com

Tuesday August 31

Voice Games

Hosted by David Greenwood
Location: VIP Event Center
Time: 9:00PM Eastern, Wednesday 1:00AM Universal
David will be assisting people with games he has produced.
Some of the games he has written are fairly complex, and an opportunity to
ask questions, receive answers, as well as an
online demo will help people enjoy the games more thoroughly.

This is the first in hopefully many workshops on accessible games.
The first session will work on demystifying some of the concepts and
features in the relatively new game, Time of Conflict.
We will field questions on everything from the basics to some of the more
useful but seemingly arcane elements of this war-time strategy game.
While this workshop targets people who have tried the game and would like to
get more from it, the session may also serve as a good introduction for
those who are new to the game.

David welcomes all who are interested, and encourages you to take the
opportunity to benefit from his knowledge and experience with voice games.

This event is open to everyone.

well, I just wanted to try the trial first anyway. If the game is worth the

payment details, that's why I asked.

A pitty that paypal isn't an option.

Simutronics muds are the deepest, most intense muds I've ever played, and
they have a limitless advancement potential. Also, RP intensive can be a
great thing. Finally, the cost of the games, for a basic account, is $14.95,

I don't think you can pay with paypal. Anyway, simutronics games
aren't really that good, and thehy're going to rip you off $30 a month
just so you can play a game. Also, these games are heavily rp. Before
paying, youa lso have to consider that in order to login to them
accessibly you need to sort of hack the system by downloading a
temporary file taht the site gives you, ertc etc all in all its kind
of a pain.

All the answers are in the documentation which is very well written in
my opinion.

It's only one account for those and future games!

Hi Gamers,
We have been working hard the past few months, and we are proud to
present to you a brand new client capable of playing Monopoly, Uno,
and any other future multiplayer card and board games we create. Some
of the new features of the RS Games Client include the ability to be
played on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X, no more dependencies on the
Windows version, automatic sound downloading (when we release a new
game, simply select the game from the menu, and you'll be playing in
no time without any work on your part), NVDA support, and much more!

Existing Monopoly users can simply download the new client, and login
with their Monopoly credentials to access both Monopoly and Uno. New
users can easily register, and gain access to both games as well.

We have also re-written the web client from scratch, featuring a brand
new interface and many bug fixes. To check out the RS Games Client,
visit www.rsgames.co.nr, and select either Monopoly or Uno.

Thank you.
