Hi,

That might work. Unfortunately, Acapela Heather doesn't like the word
mage. I typed in skeleton mage and it says it like skeleton midge.
No wonder I hate synthetic speech. It doesn't know how to say anything
right.

That's actually one of my problems in producing MOTA. Acapela Heather
is a nice sounding voice, but it has troubles with a number of words.
It saying midge instead of mage is just a case in point. I've had
to take great pains to have the synth to do as well as it does in the
game. In many cases misspelling words to have it come up with
something close to the correct sounding word.

Cheers!

Hi Hayden,

I don't know about the level being necessarily shorter. In terms of
horizontal movement the level isn't as long as before, but it is
taller with more rooms on top of each other. This provides more of an
equal virticle and horizontal movement in the game. I didn't want the
game to be a triditional side-scroller where you just move from left
to right and that's it. I wanted to be able to double back in places,
more opertunity to move up/down, and put things where you might not
expect them.

As for the footstep sounds I decided to use a dirt floor instead of
stone. Just thought that might be different. I was kind of getting
tired of a stone surface throughout the game. Although, if people
would prefer the stone floor instead I could certainly do that.

Hi Hayden,

Yeah, kind of reminds me of Montezuma's Revenge. As you might recall I
used those exact dirt step sounds for Montezuma's Revenge. In fact, I
custom made those dirt step sounds for Monte, because the ones James
North had were terrible sounding. So I went out in my driveway with a
digital recorder, walked around, and then trimmed them with Goldwave.

So when playing around with the new level I realised the dirt step
sounds sounded pretty realistic, and might be a good change. As you
said it really reminds me of the early betas and so on.

As for making some levels stone that really wouldn't work. I have the
stone step sounds reserved for the staircases. Since they are the same
sounds as the stone floor sounds in prior betas that might not work
out too well. You wouldn't be able to find the staircases unless I
came up with a different stone step sound.

Cheers!

Hi Lori,

It sounds to me like you were poisoned. If a harpy attacks you with
one of her claws you will begin to get really sick from harpy poison.
The only way to counter the effect is by drinking a magic potion made
from phoenix tears. Which is exactly what the healing potions are you
find throughout the game levels.

Hi Lori,

You know, I have considered an alternative method for crossing chasms,
jumping large fire pits, swinging over lava, but wasn't sure how
thrilled people would be about the idea. In some of the Tomb Raider
games like Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary Lara Croft
has a grappling hook she uses to swing over dangerous traps. You
usually loop it over a large rock or crack in the ceiling, and then
once the hook is set, you climb up the line a little way, and swing
across the chasm, lava pit, or whatever trap is barring your way. I've
often thought such a tool might make the game more interesting.
However, on the other hand it takes some difficulty out of using a
hidden pressure switch to lower a bridge or lower a spike trap etc at
the same time.

Cheers!

for both the game and patches. Even though they are not all that grate
I still want to play them. Plus I want the games because I want to

Re: [Audyssey] MOTA Last Minute Comments

2011-02-02 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Liam,

The choppiness could be processor speed and/or ram. When I run the
game on my laptop that has a 3.6 GHZ processor it isn't too bad. When
I load the game on an older 1.2 GHZ desktop, the one that recently
died, it is kind of slow and choppy. This only really started once I
stuck the 44100 KHZ sounds in the game. The game really isn't meant
for lower end systems like that.

As far as Cerberus the c is suppose to be a hard c like Kerberus not a
soft se like Serberus. There is also alternative spellings for the
name depending if you use Greek or Latin. The Latin translation is
spelled c e r b e r u s and is the one most often seen in English
translations of the Greek works. However, the original Greek spelling
is k e r b e r o s. Its a lingual thing.

Cheers!

Hello all,

I'm just starting to get into games again after losing my sight
back in 02, and dumped all my then worthless, unplayable games on a
friend. Then I heard about Audio Quake from another friend in IRC.

I've been trying to get either/both Linux and Windows
installation routines to work, but they can't find either the Shareware
Quake version, which I already have, nor can they find the additional
sound files that go with Audio Quake. The links no longer work.

I do believe Windows Audio quake somewhat worked, as it tried to
start, and said something at me with the Mickeysoft Sam voice. gags
Does anyone have working URLs for the sound additions? It looks like
I'm going to have to figure out how to install this guy manually, and
pray they come up with an NVDA port. TIA,

Michael

Hi Ken,

Well, I do understand your position quite well. Even though when it
comes to programming I'm pretty adaptable that doesn't mean I'm very
good at all of the languages I've learned over the years. I'm not, for
example, very good at Visual Basic. For one reason or another my
talents have been with C languages like C++, Java, C# .net, and Perl.
Of course, if I worked with the language more I'd get better at it,
but the fact remains my skills are more with C languages than with
basic languages like Visual Basic.

However, I think I might be able to help you. Genesis 3D was designed
as a managed dll for the .net family of languages and its soul
advantage over BGT is that someone like yourself could learn and use
Visual Basic .net and easily get access to DirectX, Sapi, networking,
3d calculations, etc through the g3d.dll. This would completely
resolve the issue of installing several third-party wrappers like
SlimDX and so on because all of that would be accessible through
g3d.dll. As long as you supplied SlimDX with your VB .net app you
would have access to most of the basic game APIs you need. If you
wanted access to OpenAl, for example, I could wrap that as well. In
fact, I'm going to have to do that anyway for the non-Windows port
since OpenAL is used for audio in the majority of games for Linux and
Mac OS.

Cheers!

The point of that game will be to sell it, which means that support is the

By the way, I've looked at BGT, and though I still plan to look at it and
try to learn it, I'm going to focus on learning VB.net. That book that's in
the Heli folder is all about how to program with it. I know that it's
already obsolete, and that I'm way behind the times. Oh well, it's been
that way in many areas through my whole life. I just can't get my mind
around C style languages. It's like playing the trumpet. I like the
trumpet's sound better than, say a flute, but the flute makes some sense to
me. The trumpet doesn't make any sense to me at all, and I struggled for
years to learn it. Now my primary instrument is the keyboard, and it makes
more sense to me than the flute. How I wish there was a programming
language based on music--that'd be awesome. Anyway, maybe now you get my

 Hi,

I'm not sure really. I'm hoping to have the game done by May or June
if everything goes well. The engine is stable and pretty much
complete. So now I'm focussing in on developing the game itself.

Well, because several people asked me too. Several people didn't want

disable that feature so the alt key will function properly in games.

has a grappling hook she uses to swing over dangerous traps. You
usually loop it over a large rock or crack in the ceiling, and then
once the hook is set, you climb up the line a little way, and swing
across the chasm, lava pit, or whatever trap is barring your way. I've
often thought such a tool might make the game more interesting.
However, on the other hand it takes some difficulty out of using a

[Audyssey] commercials in jim's baseball game

HI Jim
I enjoy the commercials in your baseball game.
They inspire me to enjoy a beer or a coke at the pc while playing baseball;
while I have to press the different numbers for the pitcher.
I would like to get clarity on some of the commercials in your baseball game
please. I do not understand the wordings of these commercials.
What do they advertise?
baseco2
baseco4
baseco5
If I heard it right, its called cracker jack.
Are they advertising candy?
baseco8
I like this woman's voice, so sweet!
What is she advertising? Sounds like beer.
baseco12
Nice happy tune, but I cannot hear what they are advertising.

Hello,
The problem was that the audyssey program insert the word Audyssey In
brackets, whenever you send a message to the list. In that case I
figured that the subject line read:
[left bracket Audyssey right bracket] Audyssey Babble Report for January

Hi Lee
Jim kitchen and Robert betz both made a yotsee game.
However, jim's game is free and just as good.
I cannot remember robert's site but jim's site is www.kitchensinc.net
Then you can grab g m A dice from www.gmagames.com.
Its not a game, but it's a dice rolling program so you can use it together
with your own games like yotsee and a Braille snakes and ladders game .
G m A games also have a spreadsheet file on their website that will help you
to play yotsee.
If you are looking for games including dice rolling, jim kitchen have
monopoly and snakes and ladders and also his cacino game craps if I
spelled it correctly.
hth
It would be interesting to know if g m A dice can be used to play a pen and
paper rpg game.

Recently, Thomas Ward has begun his impossible games series with such

as the jump over Mount Everest, in which Angela Carter has to use a one

rope to swing all the way over Mount Everest in One Try; he has also
included such nasty traps in MOTA as the vanishing floor, so that at the
very beginning you fall into Tartarus with no way of return. In this game,
we shall put Thomas Ward to the test; see if you can stop him from walking
from left to right across the level, by placing out monsters and traps--as

I'm not the list moderator but I have a feeling that if you keep posting
these kinds of things to the list you'll be moderated or banned. If a game
hasn't officially been declared abandonware by the developer, regardless of
whether or not the game appears to still be in development, it's probably
not a good idea to ask for it on list. Unless a game is officially declared
abandonware by its developer it's probably considered piracy to ask for it
as you have been.

Perhaps the enemy is too close. Sometimes if they are too close there
is no room to fire a gun, swing a sword, etc. Also some enemies,

or enemies specifically are you having difficulty with.

Hi Daren,

Perhaps the enemy is too close. Sometimes if they are too close there
is no room to fire a gun, swing a sword, etc. Also some enemies,
primarily harpies, will fly over you and atack from above. What enemy
or enemies specifically are you having difficulty with.

Hi Daren,

You duck. There is a little bug with that I'm fixing as we speak, but
the basic answer is you duck and run away from the harpy. When you are
far enough away shoot and blow her away with whatever gun or weapon
you have handy.

Hi Nicol,

Baseco2.wav --- This is an Alka Seltzer commercial. Basically,
this is a medicine tablet you put in a cup of water and drink it.

baseco4.wav --- This is the Almond Joy commercial. Its basically a
chocklet candy with almond nuts in it.

baseco5.wav -- This is the Crackerjack commercial. Crackerjacks is
carmal popcorn and peanuts. Also it comes with a cheap little toy or
prize in the box.

baseco8.wav --- A Shafer Beer commercial. This is, well, a brand of beer.

Baseco12.wav --- The Texico Star commercial. This is an advertisement
for a gas station. As our British friends would say a Petrol Station

Re: [Audyssey] Where can I buy Mysteries of the Ancients?

2011-02-02 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Tommy,

At the moment Mysteries of the Ancients isn't ready for sale yet. It
is still in development. The version available from the USA Games
website is a test version of the game. It is there for purposes of
testing, finding bugs, gathering information, and over all making sure
everything works properly before the game goes on sale.

And before anyone asks when it will be ready I'm not sure. I'm hoping,
but not promsing, to have it ready sometime around May or June.

Cheers!

Hi Shaun,

Ahem...It is called a Lamia not a Lamier. Anyway, yeah, she is a bit
of a serious challenge. Even I have difficulty killing her, and she is
one of the miner bosses planned for the game. Just imagine what
something like a multiheaded Hydra or dragon will be like.
Muhahahahaha!

Cheers!

Well I just completed the game on easy.
I must say the platform was a bit of a timing thing.
And the lamier.
I was able to hit it with my pistal then my shotgun.
But I got seriously malled.
By far the best thing to do it is charge with your sword if you are
lucky enough to have one.
I was able to charge and handle the lamier in one go without getting
to much dammage.
Ok I probably got hit heaps but I was able to cause serious dammage.

G m A games also have a spreadsheet file on their website that will help
you

to play yotsee.
If you are looking for games including dice rolling, jim kitchen have
monopoly and snakes and ladders and also his cacino game craps if I
spelled it correctly.
hth
It would be interesting to know if g m A dice can be used to play a pen
and

paper rpg game.

This game is an impossible game from USA games interactive. In this
game, you have to battle many creachers like stupid developers of

reach the boss, you will have to kill him. Every time you shoot him,
he gets faster at speaking words and eventually he will take you out.

 Hi,
 Games We'd Like to Play:
 Blind Gamer's Revenge.
Recently, Thomas Ward has begun his impossible games series with such
titles as the jump over Mount Everest, in which Angela Carter has to
use a one foot rope to swing all the way over Mount Everest in One
Try; he has also included such nasty traps in MOTA as the vanishing
floor, so that at the very beginning you fall into Tartarus with no
 way of return. In this game, we shall put Thomas Ward to the test;
see if you can stop him from walking from left to right across the
level, by placing out monsters and traps--as many as you like. Do you
have what it takes to beat this evil gamer mastermind? Lol...Couldn't
 resist.

G m A games also have a spreadsheet file on their website that will help
 you
 to play yotsee.
If you are looking for games including dice rolling, jim kitchen have
monopoly and snakes and ladders and also his cacino game craps if I
 spelled it correctly.

It would be interesting to know if g m A dice can be used to play a pen

then its probably better to handle that first.

On 2/1/11, Hayden Presley hdpres...@hotmail.com wrote:

hi.
Well I just completed the game on easy.
I must say the platform was a bit of a timing thing.
And the lamier.
I was able to hit it with my pistal then my shotgun.
But I got seriously malled.
By far the best thing to do it is charge with your sword if you are
lucky enough to have one.
I was able to charge and handle the lamier in one go without
getting to much dammage.

Ok I probably got hit heaps but I was able to cause serious dammage.

Re: [Audyssey] mota

2011-02-02 Thread shaun everiss

hmmm yeah.
I do think the spear is quite a good weapon if you can find it.
Actually any big blade is good.
Guns against the boss monsters don't do much at all and you don't
have time to chop and change.
You may have a better chance if bosses did not have ranged weapons
but if they do well.

By far the best thing to do it is charge with your sword if you are
 lucky enough to have one.
I was able to charge and handle the lamier in one go without getting
 to much dammage.
Ok I probably got hit heaps but I was able to cause serious dammage.

has a grappling hook she uses to swing over dangerous traps. You
usually loop it over a large rock or crack in the ceiling, and then
once the hook is set, you climb up the line a little way, and swing
across the chasm, lava pit, or whatever trap is barring your way. I've

HI.

Think I just found a bug. not sure if this can be replicated or not. I was
walking down some stares and the sound of the stares just kept going and
going. I had been up those stares before so I know they were not that
long.

so I tried walking left and right and when I did the game kept playing the
stone stare sound . Shortly after that the game froze and I had to alt f4
out of the game. running win xp pack 3 pro here on a del laptop with 2 gb
of

ram.

harpies can fly over you then how are you suppose to defend?

Hi Daren,

Perhaps the enemy is too close. Sometimes if they are too close there
is no room to fire a gun, swing a sword, etc. Also some enemies,
primarily harpies, will fly over you and atack from above. What enemy
or enemies specifically are you having difficulty with.

Re: [Audyssey] space colony cleaner

2011-02-02 Thread dark
I'm afraid I didn't keep the game myself, but to be honest I found it so
buggy as to be unplayable. You'd randomly die for no reason, such as when
putting in numbers of the access code to go to next level, in fact I never
finished the game due to the random deaths.

Imho it was very cheaky of tdl games to attempt to sell the thing in the
first place when it had so many bugs as to not even be vaguely possible to
play.

Beware the grue!

Hi Muhammed,

If you are asking about 3d audio Mysteries of the Ancients currently
doesn't use 3d audio. Instead it uses standard 2d panning and volume.
I could add 3d audio support to the game, but I think that is overkill
in a 2d platformer like this.

cheers!

[Audyssey] abandoned games

2011-02-02 Thread Jack F
Hi all,
I don't have all the abandoned games. I have all of the xl studeos
games which are on the games page of x-sight-interactive.net. I have
all the games from pb games except the snowball woar and tick tack
toe. Maybe Philip could place all pb games on the blastbay studeos
page including the pack for tarzan junior. I have chainlink, maze
craze, search party and super deakout. I also have the savage gamut.
Is there anyone that has a setup file for scc and maze game that I can
talk to privately? I'm asking this because I think the whole list is
tired of hearing the same thing over and over again. By the way, all
of danZ games are on usagamesinteractive.com under the freeware page.
Thanks
best regards, Jack

Hi,

I'm not sure really. I'm hoping to have the game done by May or June
if everything goes well. The engine is stable and pretty much
complete. So now I'm focussing in on developing the game itself.
