Re: [Audyssey] games

2007-01-09 Thread Josh
Hi,

Are there any plans for anyone developing a jeopardy game with sounds from
the tv show, price is right with sounds from the tv show, and deal or no
deal with sounds from the tv show?

Josh

Hi,

What key do I press to use the machine gun in enemy attack? It's not

[Audyssey] star trek final conflict strategy

2007-01-10 Thread Josh
Hi,

I almost beat the most advanced level of star trek final conflict. the one
just below the borg level. What I did was send all of my ships briefly to
klingon space, and then have them attack the klingons. But before they all
got a lot of damage I sent them at maximum warp to ds9. Then I cloaked the
defiant and they waited there. The first attack was meant to sure the
enemies to my star bases and ships docked at ds9. And it worked except one
went and destroyed the other station earth station McKinly. Anyway using all
of my ships and ds9 all in one place I was able to destroy all but four
enemies before as a last resort I sent the defiant out to try and fight or
lure the others back to the star-base ds9, but it didn't work and the
defiant got destroyed. But I almost won on the hardest level of the game
though.
That's the strategy I use with the borg also. I lure the borg cube to a
space station and then fire at it tons of times sometimes having all my
ships and the station fireing at the borg cube till it's destroyed.
Anyone have any other strategies for stfc they'd like to share?

Josh

[Audyssey] dragon unpack

2007-01-11 Thread Josh
Hi,

I think it would be cool to see someone make games using sounds from
playstation and other pc games. If anyone wants dragon unpack to rip sounds
from pc and ps2 or ps3 or x-box games to adapt them so blind people can play
let me know.

Re: [Audyssey] dragon unpack

2007-01-11 Thread Josh
when the audio game maker comes out, or when I get around to installing and
learning visual basic6, I might borrow some games from my brother such as
world of war-craft, rip the sounds from them, and try to make them
accessible. One game that I'd like to rip the sounds from and make more
accessible or completely accessible if I can, is soul calibur, a really cool
fighting game for playstation 2.

no problem. I have broadband so I can download it. And because it'll be very
large I imagine it'll be super fun and good to play with lots of sounds and

I heard there was a starwars mod for quake. Is this true? Did anyone ever
try it? Also can you register the shareware version to play the whole game

yeah but if you take just the sounds and use just the sounds from the games,
then, wouldn't it be just like programming any other audio game?

[Audyssey] audio quake mods

2007-01-11 Thread Josh
Hi,

Can someone tell me how to install and use the starwars mod for audio quake?
I'd really like to play some sort of star wars game. But I really can't wait
until lite-tech interactive comes out with their lite battles game, which if
its as good as the traylor suggests I'll be playing that even more than I
play star trek final conflict.

all that audio quake has to offer, does anyone have the full version of
quake that maybe they could put on sendspace? If I have to though and nobody

Re: [Audyssey] Jedi Quake

2007-01-11 Thread Josh
Hi,

Do you have a full version of quake? If so could you put it on sendspace for
me to download? If not I'll spend the $20 and get quake, the full version.
Do I need just plain old quake or quake2 or quake3?

[Audyssey] audio quake help

2007-01-11 Thread Josh
Hi,

When I go into the console and hit s to start quake, I have the shareware
version installed...It seems to play by itself in a sort of demo mode. I
don't have any control over what my character does. then after it plays it
just starts over, that is, the demo starts over again. How do I get going
with this?

Why aren't the other quake maps very navigable? Is it that they're just too

Hi,

Ok I set the console toggle to be f2. Now that I have access to the console,
and I also put the jedi quake folder inside the shareware quake folder. When
I go into audio quake and press m for mods press enter till I'm on
jedi-quake, and then press p and enter to play it it still plays the same
quake demo as it did before. How do I make it play jedi quake?

[Audyssey] audio quake navigating

2007-01-12 Thread Josh
Hi,

When navigating in audio quake, do I have to press and hold up arrow to walk
or press it and keep pressing pressing multiple times to take a step? Like
if I want to take three steps do I have to press up arrow three times? Also
for some reason when I type tut and press enter the audio quake tutorials
start and they don't let me do anything such as turn on and off the features
of the navigational device.

Re: [Audyssey] sarah

2007-01-12 Thread Josh
no. he never ruined a rose-garden. I have all the books and movies with
descriptive narration as well.
Maybe it's best if you don't believe everything everyone tells you because
they could be wrong? Sometimes its best to read the books and watch the
movies and find out for yourself.

yes it does. and then, once you have it set to run the mod, how do you play
jedi-quake? since you can't play in single-plyer mode, what mode can you
play it in and what commands do you type to get it going?

[Audyssey] jedi quake

2007-01-12 Thread Josh
Hi,

Ok, when I go into audio-quake and choose jedi-quake, then I start quake
with the letter s, then I hit the grade accent key or the grauv key to enter
the console, type dm, press enter, and then hit grave accent or grauv again
to exit the console. By the way I completely removed then re-instaled the
game. So I set it up to play the jedi-quake mod. But when I press dm for
deathmatch I still can't swing my light-saber or anything else like that. is
there a special command or set of commands to play jedi-quake?
commands that need to be entered in through the console? I'm at a complete
loss as to how to get this mod to work.

Re: [Audyssey] audio quake navigating

2007-01-12 Thread Josh
Hi,

I just tried it. I go into audio quake and press m for mods, then press
enter till I get to jedi-quake, then press p and enter to play jedi-quake,
then press grauv to go to console, then type dm and press enter for
death-match. Then press grauv again to exit to play the game, and I can't
swing the light saber by hitting g however r and c and n and all of those
work as they normally should. Should I use the impulses to turn them on? If
so, how do I do that?

[Audyssey] game demos

2007-01-13 Thread Josh
Hi,

I went to download.com and am downloading two game demos, star wars, empire
at war, and lord of the rings, war of the ring demo. My question is, in the
games for sighted-people, is it like shades of doom where you have to enter
a key to unlock the full game? or, are these demos only part of the full
game which may come on a cd and be over 600mb in size?
I'm downloading them, so I can get the sounds from them using dragon-unpack,
delete the demos off my system, keep the sounds, install visual basic6, and
the directX-8 developers pack, and hopefully making or start making these
two games accessible and completely self-voiceing with the use of text-aloud
to add speech from acapela-pro nextup.com voices where necessary in the game
to make it accessible. Just for your information, lord of the rings, war of
the ring is a strategy game, or is it rpg? I often get strategy and rpg
confused. anyway you can look athe descriptions for star wars, empire at
war, and lord of the rings, war of the ring, at download.com if in fact I'm
able to learn vb6 and develop accessible or my own accessible versions of
these games, I might then look for a harry potter demo on download.com which
I can get sounds from and make into some sort of accessible game.

Re: [Audyssey] audio quake navigating

2007-01-13 Thread Josh
I've noticed that. I kind of figured that out by playing it a little while.
But, as of now, I'm downloading a starwars game for sighted people...that is
to say one that sighted-people play called star wars empire at war.
Hopefully I'll be able to install it, use dragon-unpacker to get the sounds,
then uninstall it using the unclean utility found on the www.jfwlite.com
website, install vb6, learn what I need to program audio games, and then
take those sounds and make a game of my own. Also, have any of you heard of
a game by microsoft called dungeon siege? It's an rpg game. If I can get the
sounds from that one after I download that one, dungeon siege that is . . .
Then I'll try and hopefully will succeed in making an accessible dungeon rpg
game. I might also at some point in the future borrow my brother's lord of
the rings war of the ring game, get the sounds from that one and try making
that one accessible also.

all right then, any games I make using these sounds I will release as

also, are you using copyrighted sounds for montezuma's revenge? if so, are

Re: [Audyssey] to proove my point about game developers - Re: sarah

2007-01-13 Thread Josh
I already have a full copy of visual basic 2006 and the msdn libraries for
vb2006. I got them from file shareing programs. I have vb6-professional
which includes a compiler and I also have the msdn library images as iso
files. I also have the DirectX-Eight sdk. I'll keep this email around though
for future reference.

Re: [Audyssey] audio quake navigating

2007-01-13 Thread Josh
yep, it makes sense. What held me up the most was finding out how to get
ahold of visual basic6 professional edition. And then I almost gave up on
getting the msdn libraries for vb6 until I happened to come across them in
two iso files on a torrent site. So I got them and now have them stored in a
few places so I don't lose them.

[Audyssey] game sounds and empire at war

2007-01-14 Thread Josh
Hi,

Ok, well this was very interesting and it's game-related so I thought I'd
tell you about it. Ok, well I downloaded empire at war demo. And I installed
the game on my computer. And I went into the game folder and found that the
audio and music data and voice audio was stored in .meg files. So, I
installed dragon-unpacker and went into it. Well it just so happens that
dragon-unpacker does not support .meg files. So, I went into google and
typed in the box without the quotes, something like . . .
.meg files for games

pressed enter and up came a nice site with empire at war tools. so I
downloaded the tiny zip file which contained two very screen-reader-friendly
utilities called meg-extractor.exe and meg-inserter.exe. And once I'm done
listening to a radio program online that I like I'll run meg-extractor on
the three .meg sound effects files, the .meg english speech files, and the
.meg music files. As a result and if all goes well I'll have about 400mb of
sounds and star wars music to put into any star wars game I decide to make,
no matter how big or small. In fact, if the person who made enemy attack
would like, could you make a star wars mod for enemy attack? if that's
possible?

[Audyssey] star wars sounds

2007-01-14 Thread Josh
Hi,

I'm happy to report the meg-extractor tool worked good! I now have over 2000
or maybe close to 3000 star wars sound effects, speech files for use in
games, and 26 music tracks in mp3 and .wav format. If anyone wants these
files for use in programming any of their own games I can put them on
sendspace.

yes I agree. Why doesn't he get creative and use his own sounds and not copy
someone else's game? What's the use of haveing two of the same game out
there?
but under different names?

Re: [Audyssey] to proove my point about game developers - Re: sarah

2007-01-14 Thread Josh
does the vb-xpress come with help files or some sort of built-in reference
guide?
If I would have known this six months ago I wouldn't have spent tons of time
downloading vb6 pro. So does this mean I can delete vb6 pro off my machine?
because I do not need vb6 pro to write games, just the free xpress edition?

Re: [Audyssey] star wars sounds

2007-01-14 Thread Josh
ok. Since the files or rather the files are spread across three or four
folders I'll upload them a folder at a time in zip files. and then I'll
paste the links here. I'll call the files swsounds1.zip swsounds2.zip and so
on. I'll do it later on this afternoon. I think it'd be cool to have a enemy
attack-like sw game which is unbeatable and you just fight enemies and rack
up points. Also, I want to be careful and not accidentally make a copy or
rip-off of what Rob has planned for jedi quest. It wouldn't make sense to
have two games that are the same just having different names in my opinion
so I want to be careful about that.

[Audyssey] game programming visual basic xpress

2007-01-14 Thread Josh
Hi,

I looked at the features. It seems like vb-xpress will do what I want. So,
now that I can delete vb6pro off my computer since it's technically not mine
anyway, where can I get vb-xpress, and the help files for vb-xpress? also,
can I access sapi5 synths if I want to or need to using vb-xpress? I
probably won't be doing this as I prefer to use mp3s or wav files. or I
should say I wil prefer to use those instead. I'm so glad I don't need
vb6pro because it takes up tons of memory hard drive space that is on my
machine! All I want to do is program games. and I am a complete newcomer,
well, almost a complete newcomer to programming, in my MS-days back in the
early 90s when I was 10 through 14 years old or so I played with and made
.bat files and played with q-basic for DOS. But I didn't make anything
really noteworthy.
Maybe now that we're into windows I can do something worth being recognised
for? I don't know I'll have to try and see.

Re: [Audyssey] star wars sounds

2007-01-14 Thread Josh
well then that's good. I'll try to make my game like enemy attack, but an
enhanced version. By the way, Rob, if or when I put the sounds on sendspace
would you like the mp3 and .wav files also? There are at least 2000 .wav and
mp3 files mixed together and there are 26 instrumental star wars music
tracks.

Re: [Audyssey] star wars sounds

2007-01-14 Thread Josh
no. since the sounds I'll be using are copyrighted I don't think it'd be a
good idea for me to sell it even though I very much would like to to make
some money. Unless people on this list advise me otherwise, that is, unless
they tell me it might be ok for me to sell the game I will be releaseing it
as freeware.
And I think since Tomas ward used copyrighted sounds in his star trek game
and I'll be using such sounds in my game, then I would probably be wise to
kind of follow in his footsteps so to speak and make my game freeware.

I don't think we can. I think, and this is just my opinion, but I think that
there are some things when talking to people on the internet you just can't
learn about the person you're talking to. For some things you have to call
the person on the phone or go and meet that person.
