[Audyssey] Need some help playing Silversword.
Hey, All. I am totally blind, and I would like to get some kind of a walkthrough for the iOS game called Silversword. Since I can't see what's on the screen, it would be great to know the area that I'm in. It seems like all I'm doing is nothing in the game, no battles nor getting anywhere on the game. So please anyone that has this game please give me a walkthrough, so I can play this game that is just sitting around on my phone. Re: [Audyssey] need some help with adrift
Hi Orin, Well, as for an accessible Adrift interpretor for Mac there is scare. It seems to be universally accessible on all the major platforms it is compiled for. However, the Adrift Generator is a Windows only product. I've been trying to find a non-Windows clone of the Adrift Generator, but haven't found one. Only a few clones of the runner such as Rogue and Scare. That said, a person can manually write taf files by hand since most of it is just html type tags and a few Adrift commands. Although, I'm pretty sure that's not the answer you were looking for. Cheers! On 4/28/11, Orin wrote: > I wonder, is there something like Adrift for Mac? I wonder, is there something like Adrift for Mac? I want to create games and yes, even though Inform seems easy, it still feels like programming to me and there's rules to follow that I just can't remember at the moment. I think doing complex things like random events is easier in Adrift than Inform. Re: [Audyssey] need some help with adrift
Hi Florian, Well, the problem with text scrolling off the screen is actually to do with the game itself not with scare or the Adrift runner. There is a tag developer is suppose to use to prevent this issue called the tag but some developers, especially those who use the Adrift runner itself, often fail to do this. They usually assume you can scroll using the mouse and tend to do that than properly tag the message to stop before it scrolls off screen. So there isn't much we can do but contact the developer and let him/her know that the text is scrolling off screen and nicely ask him/her to update the game using the tag so only x number of lines are shown at a time. As for Jaws scripting that's not something i can explain by e-mail. Jaws has scripting classes you can take that will give you professional training how to do that. I myself learned it on my own just by looking at their scripts and figuring out how it works. Since I was a computer science student at the time with some computer programming experience behind me I was able to train myself. You may or may not be able to do it the way I did it. That said maybe you can try a simplar approach by using frames or something like that. I did something similar in Window-Eyes by using a user window that announces the text every time it changes on screen. I'm pretty sure the Jaws frame manager has a similar functionality. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] need some help with adrift
HI Florian, Unfortunately, there is no way to get the Adrift Runner itself to automatically speak new text without writing some scripts for this specific task. However, there is an alternative runner I use with Adrift games, called scare, that works very well with screen readers. Basically Scare is a Dos program that runs in the Windows command prompt, and Jaws 11, NVDA, and Window-Eyes 7.5 seem to read everything as soon as it is printed to the screen. If you are playing Adrift games without a lot of graphics, sound, etc Scare might be a good alternative for you. Cheers! Hi, Does anyone own any of the games from the eight pack of accessible games SV? The website is: http://www.gamesforblind.com/default.htm I downloaded the whole eight pack, and I'm trying to try the demos. I also downloaded the newer games on the site Suit Yourself, and Poker Squares SV. The games will not run at all. I have them installed, but when I click on the icon to run them, nothing happens. I'm running windows 7, and it says on the site that it is compatible. Anyone know what's going on? I tried Emailing support, but the message bounced back at me. I'm actually kind of frustrated because I bought one of the games, accessible suit yourself SV, and it doesn't even work. I can't get my money back because I don't know who to Email. [Audyssey] Need some help badly.
Hi to my fellow blind gamers, from Ron and Boz. Is there any Microsoft Flight Simulator and It's your plane experts still subscribed to this list? If so? I really could use your help. If you live in the lower 48 states I can call you for my monthly one a month long distance fee. But I can't do anything with FSX and IYP. I can't even fill out a flight plane. Its so bad of a experience. So far, the only thing I've been able to find and started listening to is the wave sound effect files that are in fsx/ But I found out that they are seriously baried in the simulator. Here's hoping that I may hear captain it's your plane before the two week demo runs out. Very Thankfully Yours, Ron a furstrated blind pilot.
