[Gimp-user] Gimp SLOW!!!
I am trying to learn Gimp ver 1.2.3 (know PhotoShop enough to get around use levels, curves layers). When I tried to use any feature; size, levels, curves with a 7 meg negative scan turned into a 7 X 4.688 picture, it was SLOW, I mean UNACEPTABLEY slow! Reminds me of the old days. I hava very fast AMD 1/2 gig mem big swap space am using SuSE pro 8 OS. [Gimp-user] rotate a pic
I want to rotate a pic about 20 degrees. I can easily do this in PhotoShop...but of course I end up with a larger pic the white triangles that square off the pic. [Gimp-user] multiple pix on canvas?
I don't even know how to look up this question in the manual (or ask it there). I want to put 3 pix in 1 file (canvas). Basically to save paper when I have some small pix to print Simple in Photoshop...create a new empty file, click on picture drag into empty 'file' (canvas?), repeat til all are in arranged. Since they are layers in PS, I tried every way I could to do the same thing in gimp. I can get the pix in using 'fileopen in layer'. I have tried printing from gimp to my Epson Stylus Photo 1280, with horrible results--the colors are off by a significant amount. I also had rotton results: I use SuSE 10 epson color stylus 3000 gimp 2.2.7 I forgot what driver (hsn't been installed in over a yr), but it was the latest gimp one. I switched printer VERY quickly to my win laptop in frustration. I use my card readers old cards to transfer files that need GOOD color...photos, posters booklets etc, a read PITA. [Gimp-user] can't add dir to Bookmark
Linux SuSE 10 I don't pay attention to most of the complaints so this may have been done to death, but I just upgraded to 2.2.7. 1) seems the opening screen is not complete, just a plain bronze square, but when I asked for help/about for version, only about 1/3 appeared there was some graphic in center. 3) when it dawned on me I could add a dir I go to often (duh), I tried to add (+) and got this: 'Could not add a bookmark Bookmark saving failed: Could not change file mode: waitpid() failed: No child processes'. I am trying to bookmark a dir...I don't have files in my Nikon dir...only dirs like the other poster, some have worked some not. epson perfection 2450 photo scanner using USP anyone got it to work with SuSE 10.1??? It works (kind of) with 9.2, but NOT with 10 It doesn't work in 10.1, I don't have to upgrade, just buy a new scanner ;^(. I finally got the rawphoto plugin to open, BUT it isn't the same as before my SuSE upgrade to 10.1...it now has almost no controls looks like a child's version of what used to be a fairly decent raw converter...not Bibble, but faster to use decent controls. What controls there are now don't do much. Yo Tim, I've been using ufraw for the past several months and like it quite a bit. Thanks. After picking though the replies I have received, I found the diamond in the dross. I deleted rawphoto (can't be there if ufraw is there), kept dcraw in usr/bin...needed for other viewer programs installed ufcraw from SuSE 10.1 DVD in opt/gnome/lib/gimp/2.2/plug-ins. Now wasn't that just the easiest! You're right, as I also said, it a very nice plugin...does the job very well with ease. Installing it was also easy...ah hem ;^). I use eye-one display 2 to calibrate the LCD and CRT in MS Windows and then use the Argyll's dispwin utility to load the calibration profile in linux (xcalib does the same). Presumably, this should work fine - but I do not have tools to verify. Thanks,,,sounds good to me. I always do them in Photoshop on my windows laptop. Am I the only one with this problem?/ I have a bet going that I'm not ;^). Is it possible in gimp to separate the cursor from brush? It's very hard to edit a photo/graphic with the cursor in the way (on top od the brush). Electronic Arts' Deluxe Paint (the BEST ever draw program IMNSHO) had it...
