Do you have modification rights for original file? And for full path to

Copy it somewhere else and the t should work.

when I resize them, I can't really see what the effect will be on the

What should I be doing?

Then i went to http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/ and downloaded the sources
for the latest gutenprint 5.0 and got it compiled and installed without
problems.

Re-did the config for gimp. Still no go. It still complains about missing
printing. So i stuck with --disable-print to get going.

gimp compiles fine, and installs nicely.
But as i try to run the centerguide.py script i get a error stating
module gimpfu is missing.

Where can i find the ginpfu stuff?
I tried googling but to no avail. I dont understand how to get and install it.
Let alone find WHAT to get...

Also, why doesn't the cvs find and use gutenprint-5.0?
The page http://www.gimp.org/source/#gimp_from_cvs clearly states
gimp-print  = 4.2.6 and the gimp-print pages states
Gutenprint was formerly called Gimp-Print

Aren't they compatible? Do i have to downgrade to Gimp-Print 4.2.7

*confused*

Maybye you should do
#ldconfig
after compiling and installing.
If you looked for ginpfu you couldn't find it, cause it spells gimpfu.

Package: gimp
Vulnerability  : buffer overflow
Problem-Type   : local(remote)
Debian-specific: no
CVE ID : CVE-2006-3404
Debian Bug : 377049

Henning Makholm discovered a buffer overflow in the XCF loading code
of Gimp, an image editing program. Opening a specially crafted XCF
image might cause the application to execute arbitrary code.

For the stable distribution (sarge) this problem has been fixed in
version 2.2.6-1sarge1.

For the unstable distribution (sid) this problem has been fixed in
version 2.2.11-3.1.

We recommend that you upgrade your gimp package.

Hello,

This might be a common experience (or a well-known fact) among GIMP
users. I just want to say that I just recovered from De Quervain's
disease after an intensive week using GIMP. I'm not familiar with
the new versions of this software, but mine requires keeping both
my thumb and index finger pressed against the mouse while painting
and retouching pictures. I did this for 4-5 days, 3-4
non-interrupted hours a day. I ended up with a strong pain in my
wrist due to the inflammed tendons at the base of my thumb (De
Quervain's disease). My right hand was practically inoperational
for 2 1/2 months. A corticosteroid injection and a constant routine
of ice and medication saved me from a wrist surgery. I could not
believe a mouse could induce such damage to my hand while using
GIMP.

H. Noriega

Hi,

as already replied, all known painting software require the mouse
button to be pressed while painting.
However very few users actually go painting 4-5 hours uninterrupted -
of course, if that is a routine task, the first thing is to get an
appropriate mouse that will be more anatomical. That should minimize
things.

The motive I am writing however is another one: Mr. Noriega, can you
think of a better way of handling painting with the input devices
found in most computers? (i.e. keyboard and mouse - maybe mic).
The GIMP is comunity based, and you can help us build a better
software Even one that gets ahead the commercial counterparts in
some respects.

What I ask of you is the following: use your experience and comunity
discussion to get to a nice proposal of how the interface could be
improved so that such an usage could be more pleasant. Then attach
what you get to to a feature request to the gimp (this can be done at
http://bugzilla.gimp.org)

The GIMP is written and maintained by volunteers, so there is no
guarantee that whatever you suggest will be veer implemented - but
most likely, someone will be interested enough to take it ahead.

breaks. Walk a bit. Practice yoga.
GIMP as every other software is just a tool. And it can not be held
responsible for wrong behaviour.

That can easily be done from within the python bindings for the GIMP.
All that is needed to do is a module wrapping sahortcuts like c and

That was just a thought an idea to make GIMP better one.

   * Draw line from a keyboard (thickness;start;end;);
   * Snap to end of line;
   * Snap to middle of line;
   * Draw a circle (first point;second point :first point;second

   * Snap to the center of circle;
   * Draw polygon;

These would be nice to see in GIMP. I'm sure, everybody would love that.

GAP 2.0.2... and have gotten the same results.

The problem is that when creating animations that transition
either from full opacity to full transparency or vice versa,
everything seems fine while creating the animation, but my
transitions disappear in the final product (animated GIF). If
going from full opacity to transparent, the layer remains fully
opaque until the last frame and then disappears. Similarly, it
remains hidden until it reaches full opacity.

I'm using xcf source images in rgb mode and xcf frames in rgb
mode. This is maddening, as I have spent several hours creating
what I thought was a working image, only to have my animation
transformed into a mess after performing a frames to image,
optimize for GIF, and saving as animation.

What am I missing?

You're missing, that gif DOES NOT support partial opacity.
You can try this workaround:
Insert white layers below each existing layer in sequence. Then merge
down each layer to inserted white layer. And then save as gif animation.
That worked for me. Every shadow looked as it should.
