[Gimp-user] How to transform a rectangle part to triangle?
Hi, I need to transform a rectangle part of my picture to a triangle, linearly, only with horizontal distortion, keeping vertical positions in place. (a rectangle to a triangle standing on its side, by moving the top corners to one point) I tried the Cage Transform: the top of the picture seems good, but it also distorts the bottom line in this case. Other tools seem not suitable at all. How can I do it? Perhaps T.J. means he wants to remove the middle section of the car and hook the top and bottom back together to make a modified version of the car? Could one of those amazing perspective/distortion tools help in such a process (far more advanced than anything I've ever done)? If you have a text page (possibly a pdf) you want superimposed, you first have to remove the (most likely white) background and sharpen the (probably black) text a bit. Then you will have to resize the text so it fits on the photo where you want it to be. So -- Open the photo in gimp Under the Open men pick Open as layers and select the text page. You now have two layers, the text page on top of the photo, and within the boundaries of the text page the photo is not visible. Make sure the text page is the active layer, then select by color the white background of the text page. Now the photo will show through. Adjust the range the the selection. Play with it. Maybe change the color of the text. When you're happy, export the result. Save the xcf file in case you want to do more with it. The way I interpret the question, you have a photo (in landscape orientation) and you want to add text to it in GIMP. If your camera tagged that the photo is landscape instead of portrait then GIMP will automatically rotate the image 90 degrees when you open the file so the correct side faces up and you can simply superimpose text using the Text tool; no further editing is required. If GIMP does not (the photo opens sideways), you can still use the Text tool like normal, however you will need to manually rotate one layer (either the text layer or the photo layer) by 90 degrees so they match up the way you want. Preferably the photo layer, because GIMP doesn't support editing a text layer after making non-text edits (like rotation) to it - if you try, GIMP warns you it has to revert the modifications to that layer. -- Stratadrake strata_ran...@hotmail.com Numbers may not lie, but neither do they tell the whole truth. ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list

Try the paintbrush in color-erase mode (using the text color). Depending on the rest of the layer you can even use the bucket-fill in color-erase mode for this (or Colors/Color to alpha, which is equivalent). ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list

Re: [Gimp-user] Problem with the toolbox GIMP 2.8 Mac
Hi mauricemaurice, if this error happens with both versions, the cause is probably in your system. You can try the following: 1. Remove or rename the folder /Users/$username/Library/Application Support/GIMP/2.8/ (for the 2.8.4 version. For the version from gimp.lisanet.de check the location in GIMP/Preferences/Folders). Restart or reinstall GIMP. If that doesn't work: 2. Try Partha's GIMP build: www.partha.com If that doesn't work: 3. It's perhaps a bug in OS X 10.8.4. An update to the latest 10.8.5 could perhaps fix it. The 10.8.5 version is expected to be released the next days. I don't use OS X 10.8, so take this advice without warranty, please ;-) Kind regards, Sven ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list
Re: [Gimp-user] help me please
(I apologize for my english, I am translating from German) Its very easy: You need two photos: photo 1 of shows the interior, photo 2 shows the exterior. You open phot0 1. Now you open photo 2 as a layer. In the layer-window right-click on the ölayer fo phot 2. Choose: Add alpha channel Now choose the eraser-tool an wipe out the parts of photo 2 where you want to the the interior Gunold Brunbauer Am 28.08.2013 00:14, schrieb Partha Bagchi: Elle, A wild guess (on my part ;)).
