Good morning,
You can find a magic background eraser in Photshop. How do I do this
in Gimp? I have version 2.0.4.
Thanks

Thanky you all for answers,
I see now, the optional kerning tables and tracking tables
are not what we can request now (I just thought about it,
because I thought it is simple to implement, but it is not
the case). So forget it.

What does it do? A lot of people on these lists have not or do not use
Photoshop, so you'll need to provide a bit of a
Hello, Matthew
I know nothing about using *.tif as a RAW file.

So that's why it had to check those! Do you know if other cameras have
RAW images with a .tif extension? If so, I will place both those

Matthew, it seems rawphoto doesn't use .badpixels file if it exists.
I've put it into the same directory where dcraw is and it didn't help.

This seems like an issue with your version of dcraw, but I will try to
check it out. Does dcraw use the .badpixels file if you

Yes, but not in the same prefix. gimp 2.2 is intended to replace
gimp 2.0 - in fact the binary will continue to be called
Accidentally sent this (by "Reply" instead of "Reply All") to Sven

I use Filter->Color->Color to Alpha
Shit, and I thought Gimp had one up on PS there too. Luckily, I got 3/4th of our
marketing department (there's 4 of us) using Gimp because they (and I) didn't think
you could cleanly remove backgrounds in PS.

Actually, it'd be nice if Gimp could pick up some of the properties of PS's erase
background tool.
Adding 'Tolerance' to 'color to alpha' would be good start; and maybe that's all
that's really necessary for this function.
How does everybody else remove backgrounds?
The other approaches I tak

Would you mind describing how this tool works? Some screenshots
would be brilliant. I am guessing that it's an erase tool with
some kind of edge detection that doesn't de
Matthew, I've tried standalone dcraw in -d mode. The results are really
strange: the bad pixel isn't affected with changes in the .badpixels
file! There is definitely a bad pixel somewhere at 1052,998, starting
from 0,0. But with or without the .badpixels file, the result is the
same. I've trie
