Since there are at least two different print plug-ins for GIMP 2.4,
please tell us if you are using the "official" plug-in using the GTK+
Print user interface (which is also used in most other GTK+ and GNOME
applications) or the plug-in from the Gutenprint project?

It would also be useful if you could tell us what operating system and
what distribution you are running.

[Gimp-user] Gimp and printing

2008-03-15 Thread John Coppens
Though this may be a printer driver issue, I thought I'd ask first here.

Since I installed Gimp 2.4.4, the printer (HP1022) appears in the print
dialog, but is marked with "printer fault!" and doesn't print. I have
CUPS (1.3.6) installed, and the system does print normally from all other
programs.

I have looked at newer versions of Gutenprint, but didn't find the HP1022
as supported. Do I need this newer driver? And why is the printer
correctly detected, but marked as printer fault, while it works for the
rest?

For now, I have been able to print to file first, then print with another
program, but that's not very practical.

Thanks is advance!

I suggest you get hold of the latest version (5.0.0) of gutenprint
(alias gimp-print) from sourceforge - your printer is listed as one of
those supported - rather than persist with turboprint.

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1537

A couple of printers I had problems with, using turboprint, work quite
smoothly with gutenprint 5.0.0.
(Using Mandriva 10.2)

[Gimp-user] Gimp and Printing

2007-02-01 Thread Mega Sunny

I can't print any picture with Gimp 2.2.13 (Gimp-Print Version 4.2). My
Distri is openSuse 10.2 and the normal installation of my Printer (Epson
Stylus Photo RX500) with yast works fine. Other programms can print, only
gimp don't work. Where is the problem? I also bought the printer driver from
TurboPrint but also the setup tip from this don't work. See here -> Setup of
TurboPrint and Gimp
.
When I make a new printer it appears in the field "Printer-Name" with a Star
(*). I input the name e. g. fotoprinter then the name will be shown as
*fotoprinter.
BTW: Of course I have german Version of openSuse.

Thank you

Yes, I've used magicfilter, but what is the use of a printerspooler setup,
if there aren't any drivers? Only Gimp can print for me. And that's the
problem. I can't do lpr file.ps. I've to start gimp load file.ps and print
page after page.
Unless I could insert gimp (or it's drivers) into my printerspooler.
I also can't compile a gs version with gimp-print buildin, because of
package dependency problems.

So why don't you just print them?

lpr mypostscriptfile.ps

This assumes you've set up your printer to understand postscript, which
tools like printtool and magicfilter both do for you.

Hi,

Is it possible to tell gimp to only print a postscript document, without
displaying it first and printing all pages by hand?
Because I don't have enough memory to open huge postscripts document in
printing resolution and I only want to print them.

Thanks in advance,
