Good point, probably - but Inkscape does an extremely good job at working
with text and SVG along with the vector lines can be imported and
manipulated in the GIMP. That's not too bad. I think.

All of these tools/capabilities are already part of GIMP. Ensure that you
have the latest version, but most of these have been there from the start.
