Darkimmortal and Drunken_f00l requested those changes because the latest updates intentionally broke the method that the PropHunt plugins used for prop movement (Valve don't like custom hat plugins). Re: [hlds] sv_gametypes broken (in left 4 dead 2 dedicated server) ?
You need to put that on server start line. It wont work if it is in the server.cfg only. -ics 1.5.2010 14:24, Cosmic Man kirjoitti: Hello, I'm trying to restrict some gametypes with sv_gametypes in l4d2, but it doesn't seem to be working. [hlds] [TF2] Bring back Full Server Join Options
Jason and any Valve Team Master, Thanks so much to the Valve Team for their diligence in the patches. No complaint here. I do have a question though, as it seemed to maybe have occurred a few updates ago. Previously, when a server had all slots full, and a player clicked to join it from the TF2 Server Browser (internet or favs) they would be presented with the Server Info box. The box would display the info of IP, players, hostname, etc,, additionally at the bottom border of that window would be 2 options on joining the server. A. Join when slot immediately available B. I don't recall and it seemed less relevant. This meant that a player could go to some other server to play, then set themselves to Option A for the desired server. Once a slot opened, they would join automatically. This also helps (for us) to get players into the server in a semi-controlled manner. Currently when clicking on joining a Server Full, all you get is such a message. No options at all. Was this option as described removed due to some exploiting? I hope that you re-institute it. We don't prefer to use Reserve Slots for this type of joining, to preempt some of you admins out there. :) Just not our desired method. Thanks for consideration of this. Re: [hlds] [TF2] Bring back Full Server Join Options
There were 2 options, give the message or join whenever slot is free. If that option is removed, it's either due to fix the ghost player issue or just by mistake. In any case, on a popular server, people who have the server join dialog open and will hit refresh and join, will get on the server before the people who get in line and would have option join whenever slot is free selecter - or the message thing. However it's kind of usefull if server is not that popular. -ics 1.5.2010 20:01, Cc2iscooL kirjoitti: The other option was basically to send a popup message when the server had a slot free. Re: [hlds] [TF2] Bring back Full Server Join Options
Not necessarily. It's got a 5-10 second auto-refresh I believe, and if it happens to hit that auto-refresh when someone leaves it will join right away. Obviously if it was any faster it would flood the server and cause the server to stop responding (try clicking refresh 100 times fast.) Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2 Update Available
Are there any other mods/plugins that are effected by this other than the 2 listed on the petition. I personally don't care about these because a lot of server admins will use the hat mod and charge players for them. It angers me to no end that I have to download a boat load of custom content and then I cant use it unless I donate to the server. These servers typically go on my blacklist. I could over look this fact but I'm not going to because there are a lot of servers out there who have stolen custom maps/content from my clan and heavily rely on these plugins. Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2 Update Available
There are plenty more servers that use the hat/item plugins *without* charging people money for them. I'm also very firmly of the opinion that server owners should be allowed to modify the game as much as they want, provided their changes don't affect anything beyond the gameplay on their server. A plugin that gives people hats on a specific server is harmless (in so far as it doesn't affect peoples' stats or achievements or anything, or even the gameplay on that server), and there's no reason to prevent it from working aside from a stubborn insistence that only Valve get to decide who has access to what imaginary videogame headwear. The main draw of Valve's games for me has always been that they're highly modifiable (particularly since so many bugs seem to slip through nowadays that it's often up to the community to make the game playable at all). When they start blocking stuff out (intentionally or otherwise) they're really hurting the game's appeal. The Source SDK is also in an increasingly sorry state, not to mention how complicated creating custom content for newer titles like L4D2 has become. It's a discouraging trend and one I hope to see reversed. -Dave On Saturday, May 01, 2010, at 09:54PM, Alexander Baade alx.ba...@gmail.com wrote: Are there any other mods/plugins that are effected by this other than the 2 listed on the petition. Sensless petition, if Valve really wanted to have their games changed, they would provide a better API. Valve didn't changed their policy, because it was not allowed in the first place. Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2 Update Available
Are there any other mods/plugins that are effected by this other than the 2 listed on the petition. It breaks anything that wants to attach a model to a player. Not just hats or weapons. There is a variety of ways this can be used for creativity and this essentially breaks it, purposely. I usually don't ever complain when they make changes to the game and break plug-ins, usually those are side-effects of them making other changes, this changed was targeted and intentional. The petition was just an alternative use of my time, either I was going to spend time circumventing the existing restriction (which would probably get fixed if they kept this policy), or I could spend the time asking them nicely to reverse this policy and get the community involved. Also, this doesn't prevent server ops from issuing overpowered weapons or other things that drastically affect game play. All that happens is the client doesn't render the model. I wasn't going to post this petition to the list (prefer to do so on other community sites), but since it's here I figured I'd explain it a little. In the end, I hope valve reconsiders. - voogru. -Original Message- From: hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com [mailto:hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com] On Behalf Of Alexander Baade Sent: Saturday, May 01, 2010 4:54 PM To: Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list Subject: Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2 Update Available Are there any other mods/plugins that are effected by this other than the 2 listed on the petition. [hlds] STV Broken After Latest DODS Update
Has anyone else found STV to be unusable since the latest update? It appears to load ok on server start up but is not listed as using a slot in the server search or HLSW. In the Spectate tab it shows as running but shows the actual amount of server slots that the game server has not the allocated number of STV slots. If you try to join via this tab it tries to connect you to the actual game server. IP Port are however displayed correctly. The only way to connect is via console using the connect ip:port command. The only problem here is that it then uses one of the allocated slots of the actual game server. Does anyone have a fix for this as a rollback is not an option this time as clients can't connect on the last usable rollback? If not this needs to be fixed asap by Valve. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
