I feel the XP system in casual was simply to retain users in Valve servers.
There's no reason for having a casual ranking other than big boy show offy
points.

"Frankly, "casual" mode could (and should) have been adapted to be
community-server exclusive." Honestly, that's what I was hoping for, but
realistically... I'm not sure that would happen. I actually thought what
they were going to do was have a true 12v12 competitive mode by the time
this was
Too early to tell, really. A drop-off after the initial "rush" of a new
update was to be expected.
Right now, I'm seeing some long-term servers dropping off in traffic by
about 20% or so, and they certainly can die faster if alot of players leave
at once, since they are not being "fed" any
It's still been dead for the most part on my side, a few of my players have
been arguing how Valve's killed the game by removing quickplay. Whenever I
suggest we play on ... our servers, they'll retort by saying they're always
empty. It's the loop that's been a problem for a number of years. Don't
I definitely like having the "community servers" option right on the "find
a game" menu, basically giving equal billing to the other options there.
But, as others have said, would have helped more years ago. Better late
than never I guess. I really saw no reason for such a simple GUI change
the same that worked before / people suggested to set there in the past, just
set both gamemode_mvm and mm_servermode to 1 - we have these and traffic from
mvm matchmaking is still somewhere circa 40% as before all the updates started
to roll in
then again, only on official maps you'll get
I should probably also add that I suspect that it's net positive if you
already have a regular group of players on the server. Most people don't
join a empty server so having a few regulars that "seeds" a server to get
it started helps. Although I see that our overflow servers fill up
sometimes
Our server had a increase of player activity, for sure. It's still way
lower than it use to be in its golden days, before Valve servers came
along, but it's certainly an increase.
Player quality decreased a lot, though. And not many of the new players do
actually come back and turn into community
Well then I have something set completely wrong from their recent changes.
Current config for this please? I'll see if I have something backwards.

I don't know, mvm is pretty alive - mvm's matchmaking sends you plenty of

I noticed kinda both, players tend to play longer so the server tend to
fill up earlier and stay filled with players for longer. But there is less
of the players that are on there for short bursts,
It's been a net positive change for me personally though.

Players were higher than before up until the last patch last Thursday.
Maybe official servers were fixed?

I've already ran into two servers since the update that use bots disguised
as players with fake pings and all.
Also ran into another server that had admins and donors using plugins to
help them win games (Higher crit chances, have proof of this), clearly a
pay-to-win model.
It's like they don't
Big bump the night of – after that hardly nothing.
My MvM’s are dead – that’s been since a few updates ago prior to this recent
big one so no idea what to do about that.
The other servers are hardly touched and I think are worse now than before.
I’ve about given up.

I can also agree with that.
After an initial bump in activity, most of my servers went back to the activity
they had before the update.
As in, one server entirely dead, the others not really filling up.
Tbh., this change came far too late .. it would have helped 2 years ago, but
now it’s
Not much has changed for me, I'm still waiting for the GLST update that
supposedly provides something good for communities. If this enables
tracking points for wars etc on our servers, this will likely greatly
benefit everyone.
For now I haven't noticed an increase, and there may have been a
