Yes - it would be a bit silly if it did not.
From my interpretation of the parameters, z/OS is trying to make it more
likely that you can start an STC (or mount something) when you are short
of ASVT slots in the hope that this might keep the system up longer.

Don't panic. When you run out of RSVNONR you will use the ASVT slots
available from MAXUSER (which you have plenty of). You should
increase RSVNONR if you routinely use them up in-between scheduled

The thing i do in this case is renaming the SMPPTS files in such a way the one
with the most free space became SMPPTS1, next one SMPPTS2 and so on. This will
avoid E37 and unneeded compresses. SMP does not have any trouble with that.

Our thinking was that we would virtualize everything. We are using STK

I'm afraid, I don't have a solution to your problem, but here are a few
things to look at:
- Have you run the ICH message you got thru IBMLINK? Have you checked
the manual? This could be a RACF restriction that can be changed by a RACF
option setting (I haven't used RACF in a long time,

Instead of a limit of 255 (as is the limit for the number of volumes a
