Can someone point me to information on what the compression

The listcat output shows the compacted byte count and the real byte count.
You should be able to calcuate the compression ratio using these

RMF Produces an interval report which shows the queue depth during that

Also, if you look in the RMF Report Analysis manual you'll get some general
guidelines about how to interpret these values. It has been improved to
account for the number of engines in your configuration.

The host name would be the IP host name of your mainframe, the lpar where the
printers are connected. Your mainframe network support folks can tell you the
name to use. Depending on how your printer is set up and driven you may not be
able/or need to use the port server. Are your printers

John,
Make sure your TAPESPANSIZE is adjusted for your tape size. Also make
sure that you have TAPEUTILIZATION set properly. Just a couple of
thoughts about things that can affect tape usage. We are at 1.9, and
use an IBM ATL with 3592 drives, and are not seeing this issue.

Hi experts,
One question regarding tape deferred mount and device allocation, supposing
following JCL statements:

//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*

Victor,
Yes this JCL will allocate three tape drive units. DEFER only delays
mounting the volume until open. The device is still allocated whether you
open the dataset on the volume or not.
If your DFSMSdss job has three separate copy or dump statements that open
each of the tape files then you
Patrick,
The I hazard a guess that Connect Direct is seeing the failed allocation and

is generating cycles at both ends.
