At this point, you may wish to open an ETR to IBM to identify why your files
are growing so quickly. I would not think it should grow that fast unless
there is a lot of backup functions running.
How many volumes/datasets do you do HSM backup for? It maybe that 4320

Run Arctools which is located in Sys1.samplib. Arctools will create
HSM.SAMPLE.TOOL.
Next step, run HSM.SAMPLE.TOOL(SPLITCDS) which will enable you to analyze the
proper split point for your BCDS.

of your SMS datasets being backed up to ensure that you are not keeping too
many backup versions and/or keeping them too long.

These datasets currently use NSR (Non Shared Resources).
The Application is written in assembler.
I want to switch some of the Files to use LSR.
If two files share a buffer pool do I need to concern my self with
the contents of the buffer pool

Extra was bad but they this account went to Secure Agent's 3270 emulator.

The access method (VSAM) manages the buffer pool and buffer lookasides. You
just issue the GET(s).
You must build the LSR pool before the OPEN of each VSAM file. If the
datasets have different data/index CISIZES, you will need to build the pool

We have started experimenting with MOD-27 disks on a USP600 box.
We have found that with DB2, response times have deteriorated significantly.
We are seeing response times of more than 10ms on a fairly active disk.
Disconnect time accounts for about 90% of the time. Cache disk ratio has

One gotcha that got us, was classic eztrieve (prior to 6.4), though
out of support CA did provided a PTF that fixed the problem. There was
also a problem with concurrent copy of dfhsm, but this was an issue with
