When we migrated from a 2105 to an DS8100 we used TDMF. I think it took 6-8 hours but we only had about 5 Tb at the time. I think we still used Escon then. When we migrated from the DS8100 to a DS8800 we used PPRC. The CE set it up and it worked great. If you're not licensed for PPRC this

When we migrated from a DS8100 to a VMAX we used Innovation's FDRPAS. We moved approximately 25TB of data in a relatively short time with no issues. Support for this product is excellent and it's easy to use. FDRPAS can migrate single disk volumes, or an entire DISK controller to the new

That's how we do it. Every tweak to an IBM supplied panel is implemented via SMP/E usermod. That way we get a MODID error at APPLY time and know when we have to reconcile updates. For a new release, we plow through our usermod library from top to bottom and (re)install every one after suitable

The EMC z/OS Migrator had ALLOWPAGEDATASET and could do Common/LPA (I believe it would fail if a page fault or update occurred, but these are fairly static). I don't know about TMDF. Tom is likely correct. He does this a lot more often than I do :) Dave Gibney Information Technology Services
