I don't see why this wouldn't work, but I've never tried it and don't
have the facilities to do so here. We're running with two CF lpars
here
in production, but at DR we use a single virtual CF service
We run our zOS lpars under zVM ar DR, and our provider defines our
coupling facility as another guest under zVM.

Its only one CFRM Policy can be active in the system, So i believe there is
no reason for that to not work as far as you define the other CF in your
active policy and the preflist as you expect, Thanks !

This is exactly the way we've done DR for a decade. Similar strategy for
moving a sysplex or updating components. You can define multiple CFs in
your policy. Only those actually connected will be used. Inaccessible CFs
will elicit some complaints about 'not able to use' but will cause no
First, while they are functionally similar, MVCL and MVCLE are very
different instructions.
MVCL is interruptible and all but certain to be interrupted after
every circa 4 Kibyte block is moved. MVCLE is what I shall call a
trivially interative (TI) instruction. Branching back to it
Hi All,
We are planning to migrate from IBM DS8100 to DS8870(z/OS platform) in next
couple of months.
We are thinking of using TDMF to migrate. We have around 90TB of data to be
migrated.
If anyone has done any of the DS8000 migration, can you please me know
1.How long will TDMF take to
When we migrated from a 2105 to an DS8100 we used TDMF. I think it took 6-8
hours but we only had about 5 Tb at the time. I think we still used Escon then.
When we migrated from the DS8100 to a DS8800 we used PPRC. The CE set it up and
it worked great. If you're not licensed for PPRC this
When we migrated from a DS8100 to a VMAX we used Innovation's FDRPAS. We
moved approximately 25TB of data
in a relatively short time with no issues. Support for this product is
excellent and it's easy to use. FDRPAS can migrate
single disk volumes, or an entire DISK controller to the new
IBM will have an announcement on August 28th which you may be interested in if
you like to keep up with the current System z technology directions.

Anyone know if this is something new or just an update on z196/z114/zBX
?
And I heard it was 59 of the top 60 worldwide banks run on IBM System z?

All,
This is more of a certificate issue than specifically a RACF issue..
but since RACF is distinctly involved I am cross posting to RACF

I am looking for a method/utility to export a certificate and it's

I think the title gives a large hint. If it was just a simple update they
would have called it something else, I think.
When thinking about a response to this I came to the realization that few
revolutionary items have happened from generation to generation of machine or

We used FDRPAS and did 99% of the migration during the day while things were
running. It was seamless. Spool volumes and paging datasets had to wait for an
IPL.

Hoping someone can help you Rob, as my attempts to use KEYXFER to transfer

fine between systems with the same master keys, of course...

That's how we do it. Every tweak to an IBM supplied panel is implemented
via SMP/E usermod. That way we get a MODID error at APPLY time and know
when we have to reconcile updates. For a new release, we plow through our
usermod library from top to bottom and (re)install every one after

I didn't know you allocate ISPPROF to DUMMY in batch. I've always used a
temporary data set to achieve the same goals.

I have a really simple IP net on zOS 1.11. Two OSA adaptors FA00 FB00
and I want to route everything for the segment 192.xxx.xxx to FA00 and
everything ELSE thru FB00. My current IP parms include the following

The EMC z/OS Migrator had ALLOWPAGEDATASET and could do Common/LPA (I believe
it would fail if a page fault or update occurred, but these are fairly static).
I don't know about TMDF. Tom is likely correct. He does this a lot more often
than I do :)

I stand corrected; I just reviewed my own code.
