Hi folks!
Today's SORT challenge:
I am reading a temporary file for input, created in an earlier jobstep.
I am using
OPTION COPY
INCLUDE COND=.
INREC IFTHEN=
OUTREC ...,
IFTHEN=...
This keeps only the records I want to reformat, and creates a nice
output file of commands. However,

Not an excuse but I bet they mean they don't validate the length of the node

From the DFSORT manual:

DFSORT does NOT support date arithmetic on Header/Trailers. However it is
an easy fix as you just need to add an INREC/OUTREC to get the desired
results. Basically we add the Current date-1 using OUTREC at a temporary
position say in this case 1501 ( as your LRECL is 1500) and then use
some time and not be responding. The rest of

Well, my previous post wasn't helpful. Those keywords are for INREC, and
do not work in HEADER1=.
Your first issue is that DFSORT HEADER1= requires DATENS=(4MD),TIME=(24)...
i.e. the '=' are required. But as previously stated, the '-1' isn't
supported at all.
Massimo B.'s advice should help

Hi,
it seems DFSORT is not accepting DATE operations on HEADER1.
If you've got at least one input record and can "accomodate" the record
itself with one more field, you can try something like this:
//SORTIN DD *
AAA
//SORTOUT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSIN DD *
INREC IFTHEN=(WHEN=INI
Looks like DATE1,TIME1,DATE1-1 is the DFSORT way. I just found this in the
" DFSORT Application Programming Guide ", but I haven't tested it.

What do you get with this format? It helps to see the results you get when you
use this.
What version of DFSORT?
Can you post the ICE messages?
Thank you

Hello:
We have migrated our sort from SYNCSORT to DFSORT and we are facing issues
related to syntax in the following situation:
in SYNCSORT:
OPTION COPY
OUTFIL FNAMES=SORTOUT,REMOVECC,INCLUDE=(1,1,CH,EQ,C'1'),
HEADER1=(C'H',DATENS(4MD

Dave,
Apart from the above mentioned you will also see

HLQ.SORTLPA

The only one around here doing fancy sort stuff is me. :)
And, I had to update Syncsort to do some of the things DFSORT features that Sri
Kolusu was showing me :)
Reading the program directory now. And will look at install/cust tomorrow.
Probably see how the sandbox behaves in the near future
If I remember correctly, IBM started providing DFSORT because DB2 uses it,
regardless of whether you are licensed for it.
If DFSORT is not activated via IFAPRD00, then no one else besides DB2 can use
it.
I tried to do a Syncsort to DFSORT migration for a former group. We had to
back it off

We've always had Syncsort. I don't remember DFSORT being an optional feature
for my z/OS 2.1 Serverpac. Does DFSORT live entirely in SYS1.LPA and
SYS1.LINKLIB(SYS1.SIEALNKE)?
We are further on the path of downsizing the z/OS based services. In about a
year, they plan is continue to run
this to be done using dfsort.
I am curious, why do you want to use Sort to perform these tasks?
The solutions are ingenious, but I wonder whether someone will be able
to understand them if modification is required in the future.
Maybe a more general programming language would be better

Why are two records desired for 96.12 but only one for 95.12?

. Could
anyone let me know how this to be done using dfsort.
Input file :-
ITEM NUMBER UPC_NBR VendorNbr STATE_CODE BUY_PRICE
50338 789997580026.00 36052910DF 96.12
50338 789997580026.00 36052910DF 96.12
