We have noticed this behavior on our 1.12 systems too. My cloning process
copies the base file systems that match the maintenance zones, that we NEVER
IPL from directly. As long as the /Service file systems are unmounted cleanly
before my cloning process everything works fine.

file systems on an alternate mount point, so we can run compares and insure
the new copies are good. That way, the IPL is not the first time a new file
system is mounted.

directories so maintenance can be applied. When you clone them to become the
running versions there is a script to run to switch to a symlink. Look in the

The assembly uses the BATCH option. There are multiple assembly steps and
the RETURN CODE you are quoting is from the LAST batched assemble.
If you search through the listing you'll find the non-zero return code.

You are getting RC=12 on the assembly which is an error condition, plus you
must not be pulling in the correct SHOWZOS source code (1137 Primary Input
Records Read). SHOWZOS version 7.21 input source is 38008 lines.
