This seems to address the end customer's point of view. Is there something
similar, either from IBM or from CA, addressing the fellow ISV's point of view?
Did CA reverse-egineer IBM's process, or bribe IBM to share it? (I read only

LMOD requires that the MOD be re-delivered even if it's unchanged.

PITA. I know; WAD. It shouldn't be. I had to write code to check for new

and remind the developer to re-deliver the MOD.

The most recent MVS Packaging Rules that I know of is for SMP/E 3.5. It does
have rules to build your function sysmods that would apply to any delivery
vehicle. There is also some documentation that applies to service sysmods as
well, for example if you are creating a new load module or adding a module to
an existing load module.

The IBM download servers use the default port 443 for HTTPS, not port

Re: SMP/E

2018-10-24 Thread Longabaugh, Robert E

SMP/E is very well documented by IBM and you can find much of what you need
from the basic manual set.

Commands Guide describes the processing steps for each command, including what
is done for different element types on receive, apply and accept, and how SMP/E
builds load modules.
Reference Guide has the syntax for different types of MCS (++ statements). It
also has documentation for all SMP/E related DDNAMEs, for the API, and some
service routines.
The User's Guide does get into basic explanation and tutorial. For ISVs, it
provides a good view of how customers would expect SMP/E to work.
Messages Guide is what it sounds like.

The Rules for Packaging mentioned by Tony is a good reference for ISVs. It
addresses Function Sysmods (releases) more than APARs/PTFs.

SRA did provide the SMP/E Fundamentals in the mid-1990s. We have a copy
inherited from Sterling Software but it is on twelve 3.5 inch disks.

Re: z/OS Client Web Enablement Toolkit sample

2018-10-24 Thread Galina Gorelik
Hi Steve,

I'm one of the developers working on z/OS Client Web Enablement Toolkit.

The updated connection URI is https://soa.smext.faa.gov and the updated request
URI is /asws/api/airport/status/jfk

The connection type has been upgraded from HTTP to HTTPS. If you do not utilize
AT-TLS, or if there is not a AT-TLS policy enabled for the connection to this
FAA server, you may need to set additional SSL/TLS support options in your
application. These options include turning on SSL/TLS, and telling toolkit the
location of your certificate store (HWTH_OPT_USE_SSL, HWTH_OPT_SSLKEY,
HWTH_OPT_SSLKEYTYPE options).

See this link for more details:
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSLTBW_2.3.0/com.ibm.zos.v2r3.ieac100/ieac1-cwe-http-options.htm

We understand that having a working sample is a priority to you and we are
working on getting the sample updated as soon as we possibly can.
We hope to have something shipped very soon.

The limitation is for the entire data set...

Rule: Direct data sets whose records are to be identified by relative track
address must be limited in size to no more than 65 536 tracks for the entire

The above and more details can be found here...
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/epubs/pdf/dgt3d410.pdf I don't believe this
limitation has changed in the past few years, but you might want to check the
doc for whatever version of z/OS you're running.

Coming in a little late here, but I don't understand the issue.

Isn't EXLST coded on the DCB macro? So when the exit code gets invoked, why
wouldn't you know in the exit what DCB called the exit?

So, even in the case of a multiple open, the DCB macro invokes the exit
list code...

I set it back to 1970 and tried on OZ65725 which is the first APAR
that is mentioned in SYS1.MACLIB(CVT), and that probably predates
1981. No hits. But then again there is no hit on OA49967 which is the
last APAR in that macro dated 160819, so who knows... IBMers seem to
have access to even ancient APARs.

There is no way to tell because there is no association between the processing
done for the multiple DCBs other than possibly respect to backing out upon
error..
Your exit will get control for each of these three and there is no difference
to the exit between one OPEN with three DCBs and three consecutive OPENs.

So do whatever you would do if you saw three consecutive OPENs. (No fields in
the LDA are programming interfaces, so use them completely at your own

read the link I sent, because SMP/E can use HTTPS for the download.

Hi All,

At 2AM on Sunday, Oct. 28th, Israel is switching from IDT to IST.

I have issued this morning a JES2 Automatic Command on all z/OS instances:
$TA STTZ,T=98.00,'$VS,''SET TIMEZONE=E.02.00'''

Currently, our CLOCK00 is:
TIMEZONE E.03.00.00
SIMETRID 00
ETRMODE NO
ETRZONE NO
ETRDELTA 10
STPMODE NO
STPZONE NO

When I show at office Sunday morning 9AM, I will also modify the line "TIMEZONE
E.03.00.00" to read "TIMEZONE E.02.00.00".

Will this work, assuming no IPL will occur until Sunday morning?

Ah, I forgot to mention. We are a zDPT installation, running z/VM 6.4 and
several z/OS guests on top, and as far as I know, do not rely on local time.

Re: DCB Open Exit

2018-10-24 Thread Peter Relson
(Purely guessing, might be totally wrong)

There is no way to tell because there is no association between the
processing done for the multiple DCBs other than possibly respect to
backing out upon error..
Your exit will get control for each of these three and there is no
difference to the exit between one OPEN with three DCBs and three
consecutive OPENs.

So do whatever you would do if you saw three consecutive OPENs. (No fields
in the LDA are programming interfaces, so use them completely at your own
risk.)

Who has experience with z/OSMF SSO and Console support

2018-10-24 Thread Jose Munoz
Hi all,

Our requirement is to have in only one browser window/tab all the consoles
for all the SYSPLEXes. Implementing z/OSMF Single Sign On (SSO), can have
in only one browser/tab session all the consoles for all sysplexes?

Also, I would like to know if in only one browser window/tab can I handle
all the z/OSMF functions for all sysplexes or SSO is only used to eliminate
the pop-up window to authenticate (user id & psw) to each SYSPLEX and it
open automatically a new window or tab for the others z/SOMF Sysplexes.

I would like to figure it, if using SSO I authenticate only to the primary
z/OSMF and it open a new tab to handle other SYSPLEX and so on. Or in only
one tab I handle all the SYSPLEXes

How do you address multiple OPEN statements? How do you know the earlier
datasets are more deserving?

I would expect that the standard print files will be the first ones opened,
and they probably benefit the least. It would be better to scan the TIOT to
determine the more deserving (TAPE? DASD?) and just do them.
