Joseph,
I know for a fact that there are job classes that are available for long
running jobs. Have you tried to use those?
You'll want to read up on Syncsort from Precisely as we are not licensed for
DFSORT from IBM.

Make sure you have an odd number of twists in between the two CEC's. Each
jumper cable counts as one twist. If you're connected via dark fiber then make
sure that has a twist in the path. If you can't change the ends of the dark
fiber you might be able to separate one end of an LC jumper
Bob,
Are any of the PF Keys 13-24 working? It sounds like maybe the keyboard map in
Attachmate isn't allowing the shift-key to work. I always use the "IBM
3191.ekm or "IBM 3191.xkb" keyboard maps in my InfoConnect/Attachmate session.

Here's a site that may have more info for your reading pleasure,
http://www.punchcardreader.com/
I have used this service to decode several hundred punched cards several years
ago.
The historical society that I'm a member of has thousands of punched cards with
no real way to read them anymore.
Jerry,
We have 5 CECs in one IODF. Are you using HCD or HMC? Either way it's
possible to combine the three IODFs into one, I would probably do one at a time.
#1) From the processor list you can COPY from the current IODF to a new
target IODF.
#2) Your SNA Network name needs to match
Mark,
You've indicated that you have 8 systems in a sysplex does that mean 8 CEC or 8
z/OS systems?
How many CEC's do you have?
Are you doing POR for each CEC?
In the RESET profile you point to the IOCDS slot that you'll POR from. In
SYS1.IPLPARM(LOADxx) you should specify "**" in columns 10 &
Don,
Is your Visara connected via OSA-ICC? Does the console in question receive the
OSA-ICC three line display?
You didn't indicate the reason for running Standalone DFDSS, did you get a new
processor or are you setting up a new DR environment.
The reason I ask these questions is that we just

I remember this being a pain to setup and test initially. But we did finally

We've been working this process for about a month now. We went from a two way

When setting up a HyperSwap target subsystem in HCD does anyone know if the
same CHPIDs have to be used or can you use different CHPIDs?
We have a subsystem with 20480 Mod-54 devices that we need to be able to

I'm unable to use the same CHPIDs for both due to
Sometime ago it was suggest that we have a XCF ARM Policy so that our
automation product automatically restart if it went down.
We've never setup an ARM policy and I'm looking for a sample, other than the
one in SAMPLIB. Anyone have a simple one they would be willing to share?
Thanks,
Ken
While configuring CKD storage on a new IBM DS8880 I discovered that the default
number of cylinders for a 3390-27 and a 3390-54 has changed.
Caution should be taken when your defining new storage.
I've always assumed that a 3390-27 had 32,760 cylinders. Not the case anymore,
if using the GUI
Anyone ever receive emails from IBM about z Systems machine information that
you're not registered to receive?
For example this morning I received notification for a 2096 with a serial
number that we've never owned or leased.
The machine 2096-X is back level on MCL activation. There are 49

Our current methodology is to configure each LCU on the DS8Ks with 128 base

Lionel,
I wrote an assembler macro several years ago.
Needless to say I haven't updated it since 1994.
May not be complete but it's a place to start.
