I did a computer recovery once on my hp mini netbook. I did not have to boot into safe mode. I just from the desktop pressed win key+I for settings arrow to update and security enter arrow down to recovery entered on that and followed the prompts it's almost like doing the windows 10 upgrade

with windows 10 you never start the computer from a cold start. the computer is in hibernation mode which enables the quick start. when quick starting the computer some drivers don't get loaded hence the startup sound does not play. this is why when you run jaws in 40 minute mode then shut
