Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 18 shortcut on desktop

2016-12-15 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi Fred,
I assumed you went to the Jaws 18 icon on the desktop and pressed the
application key and went to properties.
Then you tab to short cut and press the letter J. Then do the insert + tab
key to hear that the shortcut key is ctrl + alt+ J. Then tab to ok. Then I
am not sure on this but you might have to reboot your pc for this change to
take place. I guess you can try it first then if it does not work reboot
your pc.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws friendly video editor

2016-12-15 Thread Shai
Hello Mark,
You might try downloading the Windows Live Essentials suite which
contains Windows Live Movie Maker. I did some research into this to
see if it can still be downloaded for Windows10 and there is an
article here which states that it can even though it might be for a
prior version of Windows such as 8.1: the link to it is
http://www.intowindows.com/download-movie-maker-for-windows-10/ I
recall that Windows Movie Maker on older versions of Windows had been
accessible so I am hoping that this one is. To get you started I also
included a youtube video of a series on the older Movie Maker and JAWS
so that you would at least have a guide: the link to this is
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEKyqp0miK8some
Others might suggest another video editor but Movie Maker as I recall
was the most accessible with JAWS on older versions of Windows and I
am hoping that Live Movie Maker is just the same.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Navigating a created Invoice in Excel

2016-12-15 Thread Dale Alton
Hi Jerry,
I would say the best way to learn the invoice is to sit down with your wife
and have her explain it to you. You are able to get from cell to cell by
arrowing and groups of cells by adding a control to the arrow.

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws and OE

2016-12-15 Thread David Ferrin
By default OE will not create any folders for multiple accounts on its' own,
if you want that then you will need to do it yourself along with message
rules for sorting in to the various folders. I have had as high as 5
accounts at once in a single identity in outlook express.

If Outlook Express acts anything remotely like Outlook or Thunderbird,
all your accounts will be in the list of folders, with each account
having it's folders below it and one level in, similar to the folders
list in Windows Explorer.

I too have never done any extensive work with multiple email accounts,
so I can't be certain of anything here.

In the past, when OE was the default email program with Windows, OE
worked well with JAWS. As such, now, JAWS doesn't support Outlook
Express unless you make some modifications to the JAWS OE scripts
file. (I'm not using it. There may be a file somewhere that was
compiled for JAWS that can be downloaded? Or else someone knows the
steps that will enable JAWS to work somewhat with OE.)

the sentence and press either of two key combinations. Alt-delete will

the position number in relation to the margin.

Another way is to press the key combo control-e. This is the toggle for
centering and un-centering text. Press Listen to what JAWS reports. If the
first press of this combo has JAWS verbalize "align left," you'll know the
text wasn't left-aligned. You'll simultaneously fix the problem. But if

Actually the problem seems to be solved. I thank you so much for your help.
Joseph said something about control panel and that triggered my brain into
drive. I opened the start menu and typed in control panel and clicked enter.
In the control panel I clicked programs and then I clicked uninstall
programs. The list popped up with all the programs I have on my computer, I
found amazon assistant and I right clicked on it by pressing the
applications key and nothing happened so I clicked enter on the amazon
assistant and a wizard popped up. The wizard gave me the choice to remove it
so it did. I restarted the laptop and success this stupid thing is gone.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Another Excel question

2016-12-15 Thread Reed
Hi Adam,

An other way to select your data is to use the Go To command.
Hit control-G. In the edit box that appears, type the first cell and last
cell you want to select with a : between.
For example, If you want to select from cell A3 to A99, you would type
A3:A99. If you want to select A3 to U3 you would type A3:U3.
So, in your case, I suspect you have column headings that go over more than
1 column. So, you have merged, for example A1 through C1. If you only want
to copy the data in column B, you could select B2:b99. You could then copy
to the clipboard and paste into your second spreadsheet. Before you do your
paste, you should select the area into which you want to paste the data.
The receiving area has to be the same size as the data you are pasting. In
this case, you could select A2:A99 in your second sheet and do your paste.

When you are googling, try to think of the most basic things you want to do.
Here, you have to start by selecting your data to copy. So, search for
example "excel 2016 selecting data".

 Hope this makes sense,

Reed

Unfortunatley that doesn't work either; it still picks up the merged
cell. In the end I have gone for going to the start of the cell and
pressing shift+down arrow until I have what I need and then doing the
usual copy and paste process.

Thanks again for all of your help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] MS Word 2013 Question

2016-12-15 Thread Adrian Spratt
If I understand your question correctly, put your focus at the beginning of the
sentence and press either of two key combinations. Alt-delete will give you the
position in terms of inches. JAWS key+3 on the numpad will give you the
position number in relation to the margin.

Another way is to press the key combo control-e. This is the toggle for
centering and un-centering text. Press Listen to what JAWS reports. If the
first press of this combo has JAWS verbalize "align left," you'll know the text
wasn't left-aligned. You'll simultaneously fix the problem. But if JAWS says
"centered," press the key combo again to left-align the text.

Hi Zoe!

Sounds like you have a corrupted Amazon Assistant install. What I'd
recommend is to reinstall the assistant, then try uninstalling it. The
theory here is that the reinstall will repair the installation, so that
you can successfuly uninstall it.

Here is a link to the Amazon Assistant web page where you can install it
for Internet Explorer, if you use a different browser, there are links
on the page to assistant installs for those.

Amazon Assistant is a browser add on that is specifically for use on the
Amazon web site. Usually you have to specifically ask for it to be
installed.

To uninstall it, you need to go into Windows settings, then to the
Programs and Features applet, in there you'll find a list of all the
programs currently installed on your computer in alphabetical order.
Step trough the list until you land on Amazon Assistant, then press
Enter to start the uninstall.

Note that I don't use and am not all that familiar with Windows 10, so
some of my terms may be slightly different that what Windows 10 presents

Unfortunatley that doesn't work either; it still picks up the merged
cell. In the end I have gone for going to the start of the cell and
pressing shift+down arrow until I have what I need and then doing the
usual copy and paste process.

Thanks again for all of your help.

To see if your problem has something to do with the way the spreadsheet

Also what versions of Excel and JAWS are you running?

 Hi Adam!

The brute force method would be to make a copy of the entire sheet,
 then
delete the columns you don't want.

A more elegant approach, would be to select each column you want to
 copy,
then use copy and paste to copy it to the new sheet. Unfortunately I
 don't
think there's a keyboard equivalent to clicking the column header
 buttons
 to
select the entire column, so you'll have to locate the end of each
 column
and select all the cells from there to the beginning of the column,
 then,
use copy and paste to copy the column to the new sheet.

I'd love to be proven wrong by someone who knows how to select entire
 columns or rows.

 Cheers!

[JAWS-Users] navigation in windows settings help

2016-12-15 Thread zoe fiogkos
Hi everyone, so a few days I posted about this strange thing I was hearing
with jaws and windows 10. Something that sounds like rezzar resources 104
dll, I finally figured out that it has something to do with amazon string or
something to that effect. The window gives me an option to continue or
cancel by clicking the yes or no button but jaws does nothing when I tab to
the buttons. I went into windows settings by clicking windows key I and I
went to programs and in there I found a list of programs and apps on my
computer. In there I see something called amazon assistant I click enter to
select it but nothing happens I tried spacebar but nothing happends. Even if
I manage to select it I try clicking application key to find the uninstall
but nothing happends. Does anyone know how to navigate in this list and can
give me tips on how to uninstall this amazon assistant?
Thanks for any help.

Zoe

Thank you for clearing that up Gene. Unfortunatley it is still really
confusing me as pressing control+space appears to be highlighting
columns A through U rather than just the one I need. This problem is
really beginning to bug me!

Move your cursor to the sentence you want to check and type Insert+F.

If this isn't what you're looking for, could you explain more clearly what
problem you're trying to solve? JAWS has the ability to detect likely
formatting errors in a document, for example.

[JAWS-Users] iTunes Version 12.5.4.42

2016-12-15 Thread Jim
Good morning Jaws users list. The new iTunes Version 12.5.4.42 update
finally works better with Jaws. Apple fixed the issue in the main list of
artist, you can now use your up and down arrow keys and hear the artist
name, instead of just hearing blank. First letter navigation works as well.
However, there are still issues with Jaws in the sidebar. For example, from
the search edit box, if you press the f6 key one time, you will hear, for
example, my setting is set to songs, Library sidebar, tree view songs, 5 of
17. If you try and change this, Jaws has some issues telling you what choice
you are on. Pressing the f6 key again, lands you on, Library sidebar, tree
view library. If you change this choice, Jaws has some issues, telling you
what choice you have highlighted. Also, while looking at the search results
in the iTunes store, Jaws does not say visited links. So this still makes it
difficult when going back to the results page to start again where you left
off. So let me, thank Apple and Freedom Scientific for some of the issues,
with iTunes and Jaws, that you have fixed so far. If anyone from Freedom
Scientific is reading this email, please take the time to fix the above
issues I have mentioned with using iTunes 12 with Jaws 18. There are many of
us who still use iTunes as our default music player. Thank you very much.

Jim.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Another Excel question

2016-12-15 Thread Gene Warner

Hi Adam!

Are you possibly trying to copy all the columns you want in one step?
Unless you use the brute force approach, you can't because the column
you want aren't next to each other. You'll have to copy each column as a
separate step.

So for example, to copy column A from sheet 1 to sheet2:
1. put the cursor in column A of sheet 1
2. Press control + space
3. press control + c to copy the column
4. Go to sheet 2
5. put the cursor at the top of the column where you want the copied
column A to be

6. Press control + V to paste the column you copied in step 3

Repeat these steps for each column you want to copy.

In the past, when OE was the default email program with Windows, OE
worked well with JAWS. As such, now, JAWS doesn't support Outlook

compiled for JAWS that can be downloaded? Or else someone knows the

Re: [JAWS-Users] Another Excel question

2016-12-15 Thread George Martinez
Hi Adam,
Shift + space bar will highlight an entire row
Control + space bar will highlight an entire column
When you paste use ALT + E + S for Special Paste then choose ALL
Arrow down the list of selections to see all the different pastes you can use
in Special.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Another Excel question

Hi again everyone.

I have another question regarding Excel which I can't find a solution for.

I have to copy certain columns from a spreadsheet onto another,
smaller spreadsheet. How would I go about doing this? If it makes
the question easier to answer I require columns A, I, J, K and L.

Many thanks in advance for your wonderful help.

Adam.

I have never used two accounts, so I really can't answer that question for
you. Perhaps someone else on the JAWS list would be able to do that.

I'm sorry.

In the past, when OE was the default email program with Windows, OE
worked well with JAWS. As such, now, JAWS doesn't support Outlook
Express unless you make some modifications to the JAWS OE scripts file.
(I'm not using it. There may be a file somewhere that was compiled for
JAWS that can be downloaded? Or else someone knows the steps that will
enable JAWS to work somewhat with OE.)

Re: [JAWS-Users] Another Excel question

2016-12-15 Thread Gene Warner

Hi Adam!

The brute force method would be to make a copy of the entire sheet, then
delete the columns you don't want.

A more elegant approach, would be to select each column you want to
copy, then use copy and paste to copy it to the new sheet. Unfortunately
I don't think there's a keyboard equivalent to clicking the column
header buttons to select the entire column, so you'll have to locate the
end of each column and select all the cells from there to the beginning
of the column, then, use copy and paste to copy the column to the new sheet.

I'd love to be proven wrong by someone who knows how to select entire
columns or rows.

hth

Cheers!

Hi all.

as always, many thanks for the wonderful response to my query. My
spreadsheet at work has 18 sheets so I am particularly grateful to
those who suggested pressing control+shift+S.

Once again many thanks,
