office 365 update and a calenar question

2015-09-18 Thread Kimsan Song via Jfw
There was a thread several moons ago about using the light bersion of
outlook web and 365. I returned to work this past week and I found a
tech guy who made the changes that a person recommended I do. I'm
sorry, but I don't remember who it was. Using the keyboard, I
couldn't get to where I needed to be, and if/when I did get there, my
computer froze. Anyways, like I said, he got everything up and
running, so I'm a happy camper and am able to check my work email from
home now.
Here's my calendar question.
How can I share my calendar with my boss, so I don't have to send
excel documents of my summaries daily to her.
I found these instructions on the web but lol, I'm stuck on step 1.
You can share your calendar with people in your organization.

list of 6 items
1. Sign in to Outlook Web App. If you're using Office 365, sign in to
the Office 365 portal. Click Calendar > Share.
Share button at top of calendar window (I searched for the word share,
link, button no share was found)

2. Type the name or email address of the person you want to share
your calendar with in the Share with box. This box works like the To
box in an email
message. You can add more than one person to share your calendar with.

Send button to share your calendar in Outlook Web App.

3. After you add who you want to share your calendar with, choose how
much information you want them to see. Full details show the time,
subject, location,
and other details of all items in your calendar. Limited details show
the time, subject, and location, but no other information.
Availability only shows
the time of items on your calendar and no other details.

You can also give someone permission to edit your calendar by choosing
Editor or Delegate. An editor can edit your calendar. A delegate can
edit your calendar,
and can send and respond to meeting requests on your behalf. For more
information about editor and delegate access, see
Calendar Delegation in Outlook Web App.

4. You can edit the Subject if you want.

5. By default, your primary calendar is shared. If you created other
calendars, you can select one of them to share instead.

6. After you finish adding people to share with, setting their access
levels, and choosing which calendar to share with them, choose Send.
If you decide
not to share your calendar right now, choose Discard.
list end

Note  If you share a calendar—such as a project calendar that you
added to your account—other than your primary calendar you can give
permission only
for Full details or Editor access to that calendar.

Each person in your organization that you share your calendar with is
sent an invitation in an email message telling them that you've shared
your calendar.
The invitation has two buttons-one to add your calendar to the
recipient's calendar view, and one for the recipient to share their
calendar with you. Your
email message. The invitation also includes a URL that can be used to
access the calendar.

Add Calendar button when you receive calendar sharing invitation.

The calendar displays under People's calendars.

Calendars shared with you display under People's Calendars.

Note Calendar items marked Private are protected. Most people you
share your calendar with see only the time of items marked Private,
and not the subject,
location, or other details. The only exception to this is that you can
give a delegate permission to see the details of items marked Private.
Thoughts?

2015-09-02 Thread Kimsan via Jfw
In outlook 2013, there is no need to "create" an unread folder.
When I'm in my jfw email list, I just tab, and there is an unread button, I
press spacebar, and poof all the unread emails are there.

You can create an "unread" folder for unread mail. This collects unread
email from all folders where you direct email. I haven't done it in a while,
but you'll find instructions via Google.

Oh, I'm using Outlook 2010, but I'd be surprised if this very useful feature
were omitted from 2013.

don't have much of an e-mail setup right now.

I think Outlook 2013 is a good system. I just have a lot to learn with the
ribbon concept and all, coming from Outlook Express. I think Outlook is
superior to Outlook Express. I have had it for three weeks and realize that
I had OE for 11 years and did not learn it over night.

You can hit Control Y and go to various boxes. Control 3 takes you directly
to Contacts; Control 1 or Control Shift I will take you back to Inbox. Also
you can hit Control Y then I to go back to it. One thing that I liked better
about OE is that it might say, 50 messages, 44 unread. With this, you just
get the unread, and you can't hit Control U to get to them. You have to
arrow to them. Joseph that helped me got it fixed where that the unread
message does not go away when I arrow through lists to get to personal
messages. It has Favorites. That is, that you Control Tab, and there you
have a list of your boxes, Calendar, Journal, Notes, etc. I have tried to
get a book on it, but the library has none. I understand there is one for
$80, which I would not be purchasing at this point, since I just bought
computer, JAWS upgrades then had to replace hearing aids.

A good working set up with it is the contacts. When writing an e-mail, when
you are in the address fields, To, cc, or bcc, you press Alt Period, and the
contact list appears like it does for a sighted person. You must arrow
through names, and when you see the name you want, hit enter. Go through the
list until you have them, then press enter twice.

As far as I know, with attachments, you get on the document you want to
attach and press Control C to copy it. You go back to Outlook, enter your
contact(s), go to Subject, and then paste the copy in the body. That is way
different than I have had, where I could pull up a directory, go to the item
I wanted to attach and press Enter.

I don't know how to work in the extra features, but have listed some
appointments in Calendar.

Joseph the Free Tech guy from another list has spent a lot of time getting
me to the point where I am.

There is one section called notes. It could work for me, when I'm on the
phone taking information. Then I could work on it and either file it else
where or use it in an e-mail, if I want. That is a good place to store
shipping information, etc.

I have set up a box though called All mine, where I park e-mails like that
with tracking number and that sort of information.

I set up a box called Keepers, where I have stored tutorial information
regarding Outlook and Office 2013.

I set up a box for one of my lists, but must have missed a step, because
nothing was coming to my Inbox and everything going there, so I had to move
everything out of that one and just delete the box. To do that, you Control
Tab to Favorites and arrow to the box and hit Delete.

I hope this rambling gives you a tiny glimpse of Outlook. Me telling you
about is about like me describing how the new car models look this year.

Best from,

Carolyn

From memory, I log in, I don't find a settings link, or anything when

I click that, I tab over to general, it expands, then I see the light

This is driving me bonkers lol. No check boxes, or nothing of the sort.

That was most interesting, and we may get it here before I hang it up. I was
thinking you were having trouble with Office in general; I don't use Outlook in
my home installation. In fact, until I quit procrastinating, I don't have much

I think Outlook 2013 is a good system. I just have a lot to learn with the
ribbon concept and all, coming from Outlook Express. I think Outlook is
superior to Outlook Express. I have had it for three weeks and realize that I
had OE for 11 years and did not learn it over night.

You can hit Control Y and go to various boxes. Control 3 takes you directly to
Contacts; Control 1 or Control Shift I will take you back to Inbox. Also you
can hit Control Y then I to go back to it. One thing that I liked better about
OE is that it might say, 50 messages, 44 unread. With this, you just get the
unread, and you can't hit Control U to get to them. You have to arrow to them.
Joseph that helped me got it fixed where that the unread message does not go
away when I arrow through lists to get to personal messages. It has Favorites.
That is, that you Control Tab, and there you have a list of your boxes,
Calendar, Journal, Notes, etc. I have tried to get a book on it, but the
library has none. I understand there is one for $80, which I would not be
purchasing at this point, since I just bought computer, JAWS upgrades then had
to replace hearing aids.

A good working set up with it is the contacts. When writing an e-mail, when you
are in the address fields, To, cc, or bcc, you press Alt Period, and the
contact list appears like it does for a sighted person. You must arrow through
names, and when you see the name you want, hit enter. Go through the list until
you have them, then press enter twice.

As far as I know, with attachments, you get on the document you want to attach
and press Control C to copy it. You go back to Outlook, enter your contact(s),
go to Subject, and then paste the copy in the body. That is way different than
I have had, where I could pull up a directory, go to the item I wanted to
attach and press Enter.

I don't know how to work in the extra features, but have listed some
appointments in Calendar.

Joseph the Free Tech guy from another list has spent a lot of time getting me
to the point where I am.

There is one section called notes. It could work for me, when I'm on the phone
taking information. Then I could work on it and either file it else where or
use it in an e-mail, if I want. That is a good place to store shipping
information, etc.

I have set up a box though called All mine, where I park e-mails like that with
tracking number and that sort of information.

I set up a box called Keepers, where I have stored tutorial information
regarding Outlook and Office 2013.

I set up a box for one of my lists, but must have missed a step, because
nothing was coming to my Inbox and everything going there, so I had to move
everything out of that one and just delete the box. To do that, you Control Tab
to Favorites and arrow to the box and hit Delete.

I hope this rambling gives you a tiny glimpse of Outlook. Me telling you about
is about like me describing how the new car models look this year.

Best from,

Carolyn

No matter what I do, nothing is working.
I'll call tech tomorrow, as it's the first day back for the school.

When I sign in and the steps state to click settings, don't remember off
hand the rest, but one thing is when I click the light version, the page
freezes.
From memory, I log in, I don't find a settings link, or anything when using
the jaws curser, but there is this button menu to press for settings an aps.
I click that, I tab over to general, it expands, then I see the light
version and press enter on it. Then it freezes.
This is driving me bonkers lol. No check boxes, or nothing of the sort.

Hi,

I clicked on the link in my previous email, and it brought me to a generic
Outlook login.
I inserted my student username and password, and I was logged into the lite
version of the email interface.

If your account is similar to mine, which I think it is, you should be able
to follow the steps in the below link to activate the more accessible view

Office 2010 or Office 365 with Jaws

2015-07-29 Thread Cristóbal via Jfw
Hello list,

Earlier this week, I grabbed a Windows 8.1 tower at a really good deal. I’m
waiting until the weekend to set it up, but wanted to ask those who may have
already had some experience with both versions of Office. Is there any
discernable advantage to using the Office 2013 cloud version offered through
the Office 365 Small Business plan or the standard disk instalation with
Office 2010? I’ve got a 2010 package with one system install available to me
and am not quite sure if I should go ahead and load this version on to my
new system or if I should simply run the more recent 2013 cloud downloaded
version. This machine would be for my business anyway, so it’s not like I
have any plans on discontinuing my Office 365 subscription any time soon
either.

I’ll be using the latest Jaws 16and for the time being sticking with
Windows 8.1 until Windows 10 gets its first few bug fixing related updates.
If there are any differences in Jaws performance or accessibility issues
that may favor one version of Office over the other, I’d appreciate any
feedback.

Thanks,

Cristobal

office 365 with jaws:

2015-06-27 Thread Kenny via Jfw
Hi every one I am having a problem with jaws and office 365. The problem
I am having is with outlook. Recently the college that i am attending
clark state community college decided to move the student email accounts
from google to outlook 365. I tried to use the arrow keys to navigate
the menus and read the messages that are in my inbox and jaws is having
problem reading them. After I signed in to outlook 365, jaws told me
there was one application region and 1 heading and 2 links. Do I need to
contact freedomscientific for them to fix this problem?

Try pressing insert + space then the letter S. JAWS will say speech off.
Then press insert + space, then S again. JAWS will say speech on. It
should no longer be muffled. I have to do this on my laptop occasionally.
This never happens on my Windows 7 desktop at work or my Windows 7 desktop
at home. I've not seen it on studets' machines either. I suspect it has
something to do with specific sound drivers. Fortunately, it's an easy fix
at least for me.

2015-05-16 Thread Tom Behler via Jfw
Kevin:

I am currently using Office 365 on my work laptop at the University where I
teach. The computer is a Windows 7 64-bit machine.

I have found Outlook e-mail to work quite well, and to be completely
accessible with Jaws, at least with regard to the e-mail functions I use
daily.

I have not done much at all with the calendaring and other features, so
can't comment on their accessibility.

Hello.

The question you should be asking is how well does office 2013. Worked with
jaws 13 and also keep in mind that office 16 will probably be the office 365
version before the end of the year. I also do not know if you will be
forced to upgrade to office 2016, at some point after it comes out. Since
you subscribe to office 365.

I hope this helps.

Hello.

The downloadable office suite of word, excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook works
very well with JAWS for Windows version 14, 15 and 16. The storage works
very well as well. I have not tested the online version of the programs. I
have also not tested with JAWS for Windows version 13.

RE: Problems with JAWS 16, Windows 8.1 and MS Office 365

2015-02-11 Thread Mcginnis, Barbara via Jfw
Office 365/office 13 is a different kettle of fish from Office 2010. My
problem was that when I opened a document from a previous version, it came up
with a read only title. Would not let me change anything and JAWS would not
ready the file. I finally changed it in my Word options and now I do not have
the problem. My next problem to solve is to get spell-check to work as it
should. In Office 365, at least my Office 365, the spellcheck opens in a
separate window on the right hand side of the document and F-6 will not take
you over there and JAWS does not want to read it using F-7. I think I have
instructions somewhere to tell me how to use this particular version of spell
check but I want it to work as it used to work. Is that too much to ask of
Microsoft?

I installed Office 365 on a laptop with Windows 7. It took several hours.

Emne: RE: Problems with JAWS 16, Windows 8.1 and MS Office 365

Office 365/office 13 is a different kettle of fish from Office 2010. My
problem was that when I opened a document from a previous version, it came
up with a read only title. Would not let me change anything and JAWS would
not ready the file. I finally changed it in my Word options and now I do
not have the problem. My next problem to solve is to get spell-check to
work as it should. In Office 365, at least my Office 365, the spellcheck
opens in a separate window on the right hand side of the document and F-6
will not take you over there and JAWS does not want to read it using F-7. I
think I have instructions somewhere to tell me how to use this particular
version of spell check but I want it to work as it used to work. Is that
too much to ask of Microsoft?

Hello.

The core of this will work. What you are essentially doing is buying a
subscription to the latest office for one year and since the latest office
is Microsoft office 2013 that will work with Jaws for Windows.

Jaws may not work as well with the online versions of the office programs.

I hope this helps.

Issue with Jaws and unread count of messages in Outlook 2010 and Office 365

2014-08-08 Thread Cristóbal via Jfw
Hello list,

Yesterday I finally got around to linking my Office 365 account to my Office
2010 on my Windows 7 laptop.

The process was easy enough and I was able to add my exchange accounts to
Outlook 2010. Now however, I am finding that Jaws no longer reads the number
of unread messages when bringing up the Go to Folder dialog box with the
control+y command.

The only reason I even use the control+y command is that with the JFW 15
release, Jaws was no longer announcing the unread count in the navigation
treeview. The control+y keystroke wasn’t an ideal solution, but it worked.

I’m guessing this new problem has to do with what I did yesterday, but don’t
know what it possibly could be. Sometimes, if I know there’s an unread
message, I’ll go to that inbox (I have 6 different accounts configured) then
bring up the dialog with the ctl+y and Jaws will indeed say the number of
unread items. But, if I cycle through the other inboxes or folders for that
matter that also have unread items, Jaws may speak the information once, but
after going through all inboxes that one time, no more. Not even the inbox
with the unread messages I started at.

The status bar (insert+pg down) doesn’t read the number of messages in the
highlighted folder anymore either.

I need access to the additional exchange accounts for my business and the
Outlook web appis a nightmare with Jaws. So just getting rid of the exchange
accounts isn’t really an option.

I didn right FS about this earlier today, but as it’s the weekend, I’m not
really expecting to hear back from them until at least the beginning of next
week.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

RE: Issue with Jaws and unread count of messages in Outlook 2010 and Office 365

2014-08-08 Thread Adrian Spratt via Jfw
I've had these problems for a long time, using JAWS 14/15, win7, Outlook 2010.
I have two workarounds that help on my system.

First, you can create an unread folder in Outlook. I'm sorry, I don't
remember how I did this, but Google will show the way. For whatever reason,
JAWS always gives me the number of messages in this folder.

I realize it defeats the purpose of having six inboxes (I have four), but when
I need to know how many new messages I have so that I can deal with them
quickly, this more or less does the job.

Second, I find that JAWS states the number of messages in a folder when you
arrow down to that folder's name in the folder list. So I'll get to the folder
in the usual way, say with first letter navigation, then arrow up a couple of
times, then arrow back down to the name I want. Cumbersome to explain, but
quickly done in practice.

I realize how ridiculous these workarounds must seem, but the real
ridiculousness is that they're necessary. I long ago gave up encouraging FS to
fix these message-count flaws in Outlook.

Yes I use it with no issues. The important thing is you need to remove the
office you have on your device and then eather sign up for a one month trial,
and then on the same page re download office 2013 and let install to your
