KR> Jabaru vs corvair torque

2011-08-28 Thread Dan Heath
Glenn, The 2180 VW is said to produce 76HP at 3600 RPM, so, it would produce 110.88 "whatever torques are". This is without respect to prop. Does anyone know what the rated HP at RPM, is of the Corvair? See N64KR at http://KRBuilder.org - Then click on the pics  See you at the 2011 - KR Gatheri

KR> plywood question

2011-08-27 Thread Dan Heath
The nose section? What do you mean by nose section? If you are referring to the leading edge of the wing, you don't put plywood on the leading edge of the wing on a "plans built" KR. Come to the gathering and find out all you ever wanted to know about building a KR, and probably stuff you don't

KR> What I have been working on

2011-08-21 Thread Dan Heath
Beginning shortly after CC17 in Orlando, where I picked up my Roy's Garage Corvair motor, I have been modifying my KR2 to accept this beautiful engine, replacing my not so bad VW. It started around May 2010 with removing the header tank and building and installing wing tanks. That took almost a y

KR> SILICON GASKET MATERIAL for Baffles

2011-08-21 Thread Dan Heath
Great idea. Been floating around the KR world for years. I learned about it from Bob Muse, Sr. This is how I built the baffle seals for the VW installation on the Black Bird, and previously on the Little Beast. However, I found that Vans sells baffle material in a sheet that comes in a roll. S

What carburetor are you using. Some can use only gravity feed. I have always used the Facet with the Ellison carburetor and have never had that problem. I installed new Facet pumps for my new Ellison EFS-3A that I am using on my new Roy's Garage Corvair engine and while probably not necessary, i

KR> Firewall Covering

2011-07-24 Thread Dan Heath
Chris, I can't tell you the best way, but I just re-built mine due to the "Swiss Cheese" look that it had after I removed the VW. I chose .018 SS on the wood which I painted with FireStop. I got these from AS. The SS is attached to the firewall by nothing other than the screws and bolts that ha

KR> Fuel tank probes

2011-07-20 Thread Dan Heath
Try this at Aircraft Spruce. They work with Westach and with Dynon, and probably others. I have them in my tanks. At least at full fuel, they work. I should be able to give more information on them in a couple months and hope to be at the Gathering with them in the tanks, in the Black Bird.
