How about a tarp. I've seen some lightweight ones you can get pretty cheap.

Mike,
I use the same type as for my wing gap covers, but yes it can take off some
paint if pressed in to hard. Certainly need it at Oshkosh to keep the rain out
of my KR for the week. I use it on the canopy frame at a couple spots where the
water has been know to leak in on the sides. I do have
Mike.
I always kept a roll of 3M white electrical tape in the plane to seal gaps to
keep water out. Don’t buy the cheap tape. Buy the 3M 35+ type.

Bad thing about a tarp is it will scratch paint and canopy unless it is lined
with a soft cloth or is made from a very soft cloth.

Don't use clear packing tape. It pulls paint and leav

I had an upholstery shop make a custom cover that covers the canopy area
and has straps to buckle it around the fuse. It has a soft lining. Its
worth the money to protect your time effort and expense.

I have worked in construction and painting planes and houses. My advice
is never to use electrical tape or duct tape, because both leave a
colored residue if they get heated up by the sun. The blue painter's
masking tape works well, but you can get by with good quality 3M regular
masking tape.

You must have bought a different kind of gaffer's tape than I did. I

Thanks for all the help on the kinds of tape guys. I am planning for Oshkosh
and since I copied Mark's N56ML by making all top pieces removable, there are a
lot of places for water to find it's way in. I just got back from Home Depot
with 2 fresh rolls of white electrical tape.
