I took a quick look at Kristensen’s “Tønder Lace: About Lace-making History in
Western Sønderjylland from the 17th Century till Today”, and I have are a
couple of thoughts for you:
First, the lacemakers weren’t following a set traditional style of lace; they

doubt that it is Tonder of this date because it was identified by an

Yesterday, after speaking to a fellow Estonian lace friend who attended the
Tonder Lace Festival a few weeks ago, I was wondering if any Arachneans,
who also were there, were going to post about their impression of the event.

Thanks everyone for the help on the Tonder lace pins. I shouldn't have
worried so. Susan Groh from Unique Expressions was at our retreat and had
the
pins I needed. I also bought smaller bobbins. We used 120/2 cotton and I had
not used anything that fine before.

Traditionally, the bobbins used in Denmark are the long ones with spherical
knobs at the ends, usually beaded. However, you can use any continental or
East Midlands bobbin that you like. Since there are virtually no sewings in
Tonder lace, it's perfectly fine to use spangled bobbins, if that's
