Hi All,
I am trying to implement the split access configuration which will allow my
Bering 1.2 box to correctly route to two ISP's as described on the LARTC
site.
http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.rpdb.multiple-links.html
I have created two new entries in the /etc/iproute2/rt_tables file and
Hi All,
Further to my first post.
I am adding all the ip route commands to /etc/network/interfaces
using
up ip route etc.etc
up ip rule add etc.etc
It appears that not all the commands are been loaded. I think it is the ip
rule add bit.
So my question is should I be using a different file,
Here is what I have done on our Bering routers to add routes.
up ip route add 192.168. *.*/24 via 192.168.*.* || true
up ip route add 192.168. *.*/24 via 192.168. *.* || true
up ip route add 192.168. *.*/24 via 192.168. *.* || true
up ip route add 192.168. *.*/24 via 192.168. *.* || true

Hi Troy,
Thanks for this, I think my main problem was that I did not include the
||true at the end of each line. It seems that you need this for multi line
statements.

Simon.

HI Erich,
The idea about cron use is from our friend Jacques.
I think that it is a good idea ;-)
Cron is abble to launch any script at preset time interval (this is that I have
understood) and I like this idea that something is
always surveying what is happening with default route status.

Hi all the list,
I get this error with long pages viewed through the Weblet server.
Where is the time out counter parameter ?
I don't care if this page appears after a long time, I want to get it,
absolutely...
Any idea ?
TIA

Eric and everyone :
I've changed to the latest pppd on CVS and that problem was solved.
Thanks for the tip!
But now, I have another problem (this time with the pppoe connection,
not with the pptp tunnel).
When I changed to the latest ppp.lrp and pppoe.lrp packages, my pppoe

Interesting, only I am puzzled by the fact that you have to run this from
cron.
I am currently listening on the freeswan list and found something which

I've never had this difficulty. I've lost 'net connectivity over my pppoe
connection
I'm not really sure if this is possible with the packages provided
with Bering or uCBering, but I have a dsl modem connected to a
nic, and an internal 56k modem. Is it possible to have both of
those connected to the internt at the same time and some how

Hi all,
I've searched everywhere on the web and have found nothing to do with this
config (Tom touches on it in his FAQ's but I can't seem to get it to work).
I'm running Bering with shorewall 1.4.2
Here is my setup.

So my questions, maybe a little bit OT:
where can I find the call for md5sum, so that I can correct it?
why is it called?
If this was related to a crime I'd suggest to 'follow the money trail'
here it is easier, just follow the 'make' trail
Mariano,
I forwarded your question to Eric de Thouars, he is also using
Bering_uClibc with pptp. He doesn't have a solution for your
problems, but he does have some pointers that can help you to solve
it.
First some questions:
You are using Bering_uClibc 2.0 beta4, that one contatins pppd-

I'm betting that your ADSL Modem hasn't a clue how to route to the

I would masquerade your local network out of eth0.
In /etc/shorewall/masq:

Do you have the LEAF router set up to NAT traffic from the LAN to
192.169.0.0/24? If not, then the problem is probably that the ADSL modem
does not know that 192.168.0.1 is its route to 10.0.10.0/24. If you do,
then everything else you posted looks OK.
At this point, you don't really know
Ohh it's close, I can now ping my ADSL modem from my internal lan but no luck
on accessing the web config or SNMP, it just times out...
Now is it time to play with firewall rules maybe? I didn't notice any rejected
packets in my logs..

JD,
Some browsers automatically gunzip while downloading. Rename the file

Followed this message thread - I have the same issue with Bering v1.2.
Can't drop the PPP [analog modem] link due to UDP and ICMP packets inbound
from the net.

wooo hooo it works...
The sad part is I'm not sure why, cold reboot, and off it all went.
Before I was just doing a shorewall restart...
Anyways BIG thanks to Tom and of course thanks to all on the list.

If you didn't restart your browser after you added the Masquerade rule,
then you were reusing the same connection
AH I spoke too soon.
It seems to work after cycling my adsl modem, but then give it a couple of
minutes and it stops working. :(
Would I have to set a default route in the configuration on my adsl modem?
I have added a manual route to my modem.
