There's a couple of things that bother me about us deliberately fielding a
weak team in cup games. Firstly, it is horribly disrespectful to the fans,
especially the ones who travelled, obviously, but even to the many thousands
watching on TV at home. And secondly, the argument that it doesn't
The plastic pitch on Sunday though was irrelevant in my opinion. If Monk had
fielded our strongest team, I believe we would have won. As it was, the
under 12s who hadn't played together (as it felt) hadn't much of a clue
whether it had been played on turf, plastic or even ice! Perhaps it was a
I was at that game, and what stays in the memory were the piles of horse
manure that were sat on the pitch as the fuzz panicked towards the end.
Looked really wierd 'coz you knew that the digested grass was going to have
a hard time integrating with its plastic cousin :)

On Mon, Jan 30,
I played on Luton's pitch once for a works do. Scored a top corner screamer!

I played on the Oldham pitch many years back, and thought it was brilliant to
play on. The bounce had to be watched, and the ball travels quicker, but the
key aspect is passing to feet - that is one area where we were spectacularly
weak yesterday, both when playing it to feet, or the number of

I've just been checking our record on plastic pitches.
I went to QPR in 1983, when we lost 1-0 (an own goal by Paul Hart). They got
promoted that day, so I'm sure that was the only time we played on plastic at
Loftus Road.We lost 1-0 at Luton in 1990/1, and their plastic pitch was dug up

Ralph Ineson (Finchy in the office etc) is, as you probably all know, a Leeds
fan.I have seen him at quite a few games over the years.
He got a part in Game of Thrones and he claims that he got his troops to do the
Leeds salute as their war cry.
Not sure it is 100% true - thumping of chests is
