Hi,
I am trying to install the GEO-database under Legacy 7.4 that I
downloaded and installed this week. On a Windows-XP machine no
problem, including compressing at the end.
But on my other PC that runs W7 it is another story. I can download
and import without any problem, but after importing

From Family View clicking on to Name List icon for some people doesn't
work properly.
This works normally for 90% of my individuals. For about 10% if I am
in Family View and click the Name List icon it takes me to the top of
the Name List. Actually it depends on where the cursor was in the name

Same here. I can scroll down Surname, Given list and find the person
in correct order somewhere in middle of the list.

Hi, Jenny,
I assumed Kathy did not have the electronic e-mails, only hard-copy print-outs
of them. If she has actual e-mails, I agree I would copy and paste.
My reason for posting, however, was to point out that if she puts the
transcriptions (or copy/paste) only in the Source, not in the
Thanks everyone; I do not have the electronic emails in this case; I
printed them out 7 years ago (ok, I admitted it; I print things out
and stuff them in a file to work on later and it's much, much later!)
Otherwise, I would definitely copy/paste; these are fairly long emails
so will take some

I agree with you wholeheartedly, Jenny.
As I see it, events and sources support different phases of the
genealogical research process. The source citation is where I record
the raw data while in the event is where I write my narrative.
Therefore, I would cut paste the e-mail into a source
This behavior was happening to me even before I started using ltools, and I
don't use Access, and none of the people it happened for were new to my
database. The other thing I've noticed is that it is consistently the same
people, not just random entries.

Connie,
I very much agree. In the case of the OP i.e. when importing a file, I use
the option to source all the files at that stage.

Thanks for the pointer, Jennifer. I've only been using Legacy for a few
months, so still finding my way around.
Connie and Ron, yes, I can see your point and I will certainly bear that
in mind. I guess another thought is giving the other person credit for
having done the work, too. But I still
I am getting into the nitty-gritty of Legacy more and more and realizing
how powerful it is - a tremendously good product.
Can someone tell me how to run a query on all my individuals who have no
sources yet of any kind? I thought I was in the right module to do
that, but the results were not
Jerry, which version of Legacy are you using? If the free download, it may not
have this feature fully available.

Jennifer

Thanks Jennifer.I'm using Legacy 7.4 Deluxe. I did figure out how
to do the individual field selections by un-checking both the EVERYTHING
and ANYTHING boxes. I can get close to what I'm trying to do, but not
quite. I'm trying to get a list of all the individuals who have no
sources
For those of you using Outlook for your email, there is a program called
Message Save that will save your messages outside of Outlook in various
formats. You can download a 30 day trial. I have used it to move some of my
thousands of emails out of Outlook.

Jerry,
Just be a wee bit careful with the missing sources search - I don't think it
is working reliably.
If you have a file where every entry is sourced, and you check the ANYTHING
meaning that one or more items do not have a source, you may get a whole
list of names, all of which are already
