I did the automatic update thing and now I get a message saying that I have
to select a printer. When I go to the Printer set=up I get a message
saying Error 32757 and it won't allow. I don't see anywhere else it lets
me select a printer. Now what?

Thanks a million Geoff. If I would have known how you do the events years
ago I bet I wouldn't still be getting error 91.

Richard,
At the end of the article there is an important paragraph:
The conflicting information will only appear as I've described above if you
actually record the conflicting data as an Alt. Birth event. I've written
about this a couple of times in past articles: click here and here for the

You need to first click on the Event field. It will then pop up the list of
events from which you can select Alt Birth.

I am curious, how many people do you have in your file? I have 7800 and I
think that is a lot. I am wondering if you have exceptionally large files does
it slow down at all? Do you need to do the file maintenance more often?
Compact more often?

HELP!! I have been using Legacy for several years and REALLY like it but I
have one thing that I have not figured out. I am not sure of how to handle
step-children correctly.
My cousin has 2 children of her own (by 2 different husbands) and 3
step-children that belong to her third husband.
I have 10,500 and I think I've been using Legacy since about 2002. In those
nearly 10 years I believe I've done File Maint. 3 times. The most recent
was just a few weeks ago because I was curious what it would show. Never
had any problems show up.

It's good to do regular check/repair and Compact Family File as your
file grows - the processes clean up the deleted information, checks

I doubt you are doing anything incorrectly – unfortunately it is a facet of
Legacy. You are right in that linking the children to your cousin’s current
marriage is the only way they will show on reports (this is because they are
not blood descendants, but I like to use Legacy to record family
