Jan, The colour for persons of unknown gender can be set by the user. The default is blue which is the same as the default male colour. To set the colours Go to Options Customize Colours and click on the big button. The gender colours for male, female and unknown are on the right about half way

Either way, the recommendation stands. *Anything* in the data filed will preclude you from using the Missing Information search or inserting underlines for missing data. Are you adding these individuals as unlinked individuals? Have you thought about tagging them as uncertain where they fit?

Yes Sherry I am adding these sets of information (DATA) which is not directly related to one individual as unlinked individuals. The information that I store I may like to use at some stage in my reports so I am uncertain where it fits. Really I am just using Legacy as my filing system on

Not really.  But you can have different colors on ancestors. I.e., you paternal grandfather's ancestors are *coded* one color, paternal grandmother's ancestors are coded another color, maternal grandfather's ancestors another color, and maternal grandmother's ancestors are yet another color. This

There are some really good reasons why you should leave data fields blank when you don't have any information to enter.. 1. Search icon has a Missing Information search tab. If you have a question mark in the field, Legacy doesn't understand it and it thinks that you do have information. 2. Book

I am sorry I didn't explain this very well. I don't put ? in data fields. I just use unknown sex (?) with DATA as the surname to indicate that this is not data about a person that is part of my family tree but it is an entry in Legacy which I use like a filing system where I store the information
