Bobby,
You need to look at your Windows Regional settings and make sure that Legacy
and Windows are both using hyphens in the dates or they are both using slashes.
This apparently is the trigger. I had a lady with this exact problem
yesterday and when we changed her regional settings to match

Thanks Michele. I checked my regional settings and they are correct. I fixed
my problem by doing a reset of the custom settings. After going through each
page of the customized settings to reset to my desired configuration the
problem did not return. It doesn't make any difference if I use
Bobby,
That is good to know. For my other lady the reset didn't work for her but
changing her Windows settings to dashes to match Legacy did. It probably has
to do with different computer configurations. I am not sure where you are
located but the lady I was working with was in Australia.
Just hanging out in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC.

Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] Birth and Death dates in Search the Internet
Bobby,
In v7.5 this was not an issue, there was a setting in the program. This
setting is missing in v8 and your Legacy settings have to match the
computer/regional setting.
It would be nice to have the v7.5 option back.

This bug is still there in 381. Makes it very annoying to use Search the
Internet for the current person. It reports each error, one at a time, and
you have to acknowledge it each time to initiate a search.

Each web site you try to search has different search criteria. Which
site is causing you this problem?
Have you reported this to support? We monitor this list but that is no
guarantee that every problem mentioned here will be noticed. You should
probably work with support on this one since they
I reported this to support last month. Initially it was suggested that as I was
using Canadian date formatting this was the issue but upon further testing
support could not duplicate the issue. It was then suggested to delete the
person having the issue and then renter the persons information.
Chris,
I isn’t any one person in particular. It is all. I normally type in a date as
“10 May 2012” and there has been no problem until a few weeks ago. I also
reported it as a problem and had a ticket assigned with a promise that they
would get back to me “in a timely manner”. I am going
Brian,
It isn't the site that is causing the problem. What you need to do to check
this out is simply choose a person with a birth and death date, highlight that
person and click Search the internet for current person and look at the birth
date and death date that is displayed. The first
Brian and Chris,
I checked this out using the Sample.fdb and saw the same error. I went to my
standby laptop which has 361 installed and the problem did not appear in the
Sample.fdb. That is the only database available on that computer.
I went back to my working computer and saved my
Bobby,
From the search window, click on Customized Searches and copy the url form
you have in whichever field you are selecting and show us in a reply.
Without knowing what you have in that field, we cant diagnose why the info
you expect to be sending is/isnt being properly sent to the search
First, let me correct my message. It is the Birth Date and Death Date that are
incorrect. Birth Year and Death Year are correct. Second, the error has
nothing to do with the url. Just click on “Search the Internet for the current
person” and look at the Birth Date and the Death Date. Try
After further inspection, it appears that the first character of the month is

I think you mean the digit of the number of the day, not of the month!
