Ditto what Mike said. Sometimes a fresh install fixes things that are not

problems persist after an upgrade, please post back again so someone can help.

I am unsure about this. Doesn't your response imply that the default for

[LegacyUG] Location list puzzle

2012-04-02 Thread sarlesinsight
I wish to develop a list of all those direct ancestors and their children
who have any event located in Kentucky. I have wrestled with search,
with report definitions, with the Location Master List, but for the life
of me I can't see my way clear to do such a list. Actually what I need is
Family Group reports for all those ancestors who have any event happen in
Kentucky.

Seems pretty basic, but I am going to need baby steps toward this end. Can
anyone set me on the right pathway to achieve this?

I am using Legacy Ver. 7.5.0.180.
While playing with the Census List feature, on the 'Create a List of Potential
Individuals' page, I select Canada, 1901 Census. People that I expect to see
on the list are not there. I have found the names in the actual Census.
The 'Report Options' I have ticked are the first 3 only, that is:
 - Include married names of for wives.
 - Include alternate names.
 - Include Surrounding Relatives.
  No other options are selected.
The Census is listed in the Events for these people but if I temporarily
remove that Event, they still do not appear on the 'Search List' or the 'Census
List Report'.
I am curious as to why this is happening.
Does anyone have a thought in this regard.
Thanks,
Fred Lindsay

I can see getting the list of everyone using a set of locations (all in

Do you already know how to get the list of people? or do you need steps for

Re: Re: [LegacyUG] Location list puzzle

2012-04-02 Thread sarlesinsight
I plan to make a trip to Frankfort Kentucky to research those of my
families that have any event taking place in Kentucky. I just thought a
family group sheet would be the best set of information to take along to
work from. I guess if I could get a list of those people having any event
in Kentucky I could go through it one at a time and print out their family
group sheet. So, in that case, a list of any ancestor (and their children)
who have any ties to Kentucky would do. Not sure how to get that. Tried
that first.

 Michelle,
Respectfully, it really doesn't matter what order they would have chosen to
post the data.  There is bound to be those who complain that the order isn't
favorable to them.  People are just never happy.

Re: Re: [LegacyUG] Location list puzzle

2012-04-02 Thread Paula Ryburn
Here's what I did:
Go into Location List and Sort right to left, so all the Kentucky locations are
together.
Tag each Kentucky location. (Untag other locations.)
Close Location List.
Go into Reports - All Reports - Books and Other.
Select Location report:
Locations to print - only tagged locations
What to print - Master locations and who uses them
Include specific events
Include event date
Options tab - check and see what you want there (some of it is just formatting)
Preview and see if that will work for you. It will be by location, rather than
by person or family, but it still might get you what you want---or at least give
you a starting point.
Good luck!!!

I plan to make a trip to Frankfort Kentucky to research those of my families
that have any event taking place in Kentucky. I just thought a family group
sheet would be the best set of information to take along to work from. I guess
if I could get a list of those people having any event in Kentucky I could go
through it one at a time and print out their family group sheet. So, in that
case, a list of any ancestor (and their children) who have any ties to Kentucky
would do. Not sure how to get that. Tried that first.

Re: [LegacyUG] 1940 Census status - slightly off-topic

2012-04-02 Thread Jackie King
While it is always hard to tell, it appears that Delaware may be close
to being indexed. I see Colorado is their priority state now. It
always takes a bit for them to get up what has been indexed but this
appears to be going faster than normal. I did five pages tonight and
within two hours two of them had already been arbitrated.

While others are waiting for ancestry, my hope is the consolidated
effort between familysearch, three major gen societies and two other
providers, works - and works well. Ancestry doesn't seem to want to
play well in the genealogy sandbox on this one. And since Legacy works
so well with familysearch - this could help all of us.
