Hi Steve,
I think Inna has worries to submit her ID through an insecure online
channel. I know the contact form use HTTPS but is there a way that she
use the PGP encryption feature that Facebook announced lately?
Thank you.

Is there an appropriate way to call for Facebook to be more transparent

My concern here is not that Facebook wouldn't use SSL to collect an ID,
but why they can demand the ID in the first place. Do they treat the ID

These are all valid points from aestetix and I am questioning the
legality and security of mining government and other personal
identification documents by Facebook. Who guarantees their safety? With
the identity theft on a rise, why I am forced to submit ID online? Who

If I knew Facebook will abuse me like this, I would have quit it long
ago. However, with the war in Ukraine, we use Facebook to combat
propaganda, plan and coordinate global protests, raise funds to support
those who suffered from war. At this point, it will be detrimental not

Facebook has 1.19 billion monthly active users, making it the largest
community on Earth. Activists will need to use it despite not agreeing or
not being able to comply with their stupid real name policy.

Steve, I don't expect a public reply to the comments I'm writing below, but
perhaps internally at FB you might make some headway.

Regardless, for future reference, under Option 2 there is a set of

Maybe people should just not use Facebook?

Obviously Facebook senior management wants to run it cheap, put their
users at risk and put their staff into a position where they have to
enforce for them discriminatory and possible illegal procedures and
policies.
How about investing like real companies do into an actual HelpDesk
instead
I also have an example of the same problem with negligence in FB account

society in Ukraine and help them with cyber defence get blocked by FB by
reason of providing ID for unblock. It is obvious that it was happend by

People should just not use Facebook. Fixed that for you!

Hello Hassan. The PGP encryption feature is used only for outbound email
from Facebook. For example, password reset emails sent to you may be
encrypted.
I think in this case, submitting documentation over TLS is preferable to
attaching it in a PGP-encrypted email both for security and usability.
Dear Steve,
Thank you for your response. Finally a real person from Facebook to talk
to. I am completely locked out (since mid-day July 1, 2015) and I
received two more e-mails presumably from Facebook or someone
impersonating it under name Kalin. How I can trust my ID to someone
who does not

We should change these rules. Facebook should review and improve their
policies so they don't discriminate people and should invest into proper
Help Desk with human beings reviewing the cases, not automatic blocking.
I wonder what might help Facebook, a lawsuit in Canada maybe?
