Using crypto cards with Linux

2004-06-23 Thread Wolfe, Gordon W
Cross-posted to Linux/390 and VM-ESA lists. Sorry for the duplication. Is anyone out there successfully using a PCICA crypto accelerator card with Linux in an LPAR using IFL's? We have a brand new z800 that has one LPAR set aside with two IFL engines and two PCICA crypto accelerator cards. We

Only if you have the VSE NFS feature and a highspeed network connection between Linux and VSE. You cannot directly read a VSE volume from a Linux system. > Is it possible to mount a VSE volume in Linux?? and read/write VSE > files?? Linux and VSE are installed in IBM Shark. -

Linux/390 User Groups

2004-06-23 Thread Post, Mark K
Tom Shilson's mention of a "zLinux user group" just caught my eye. If there are mainframe Linux-specific user groups out there (and apparently there is at least one), that is something I think should be included on the linuxvm.org web site. So, anyone who is aware of such user groups, please send

Re: J2EE performance?

I attended a local zLinux user group recently. There was a presentation by a company that was running WebSphere and Java in production and they are quite happy. They work hard for it, however. Each processor on which they run has at least two IFLs and each vmid that runs Java has 2 CPUs defined.

Yes, if you have the TCP/IP for VSE NFS feature. But you don't mount volumes, you mount filesystems (as defined in VSE), which are VSAM catalogs, VSE Libraries and whatever else can be defined with the DEFINE FILE TCP/IP startup command. On Wed, 2004-06-23 at 10:04, Anttnio Pires de Castro Jznior

I don't know much about what (if anything) IBM has added to Apache. It might be simpler just to stick Squid into the mix and let it do the caching for you. Mark Post -Original Message- From: Linux on 390 Port [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of James Melin Sent: Wednesday, June 23, 2

What caching options, if any (FRCA is not supported, I have discovered) exist for this HTTPD? We just upgraded from the 1.3.28 version of the IBM HTTP server to the 2.0, and started serving static content for WebSphere applications using the IHS 2.0 and this seems to have improved performance a bi
